A Little Love for the Frontier Foot Soldiers

Lets get back onto the premise of the thread please, that Dev's are awesome.

The phrase 'religious fervour' just wandered through my mind.

I am generally happy with the state of the game, but I think saying something is going to happen and then not following it up or saying why it is no longer going to happen engenders a basic mistrust in future statements of intent.

I also think that taking money changes the relationship somewhat. I look forward to seeing what will be delivered, and how issues are handled. But I am concerned that the stuff I like will change into something I may not like with no recourse.

We're glad to hear people are excited for Chapter Four and appreciate the positivity flowing in and around this thread. :)

Constructive feedback is something we feel is important, so we can't wait to share more details with you where you can judge the upcoming content for yourself!

Go out and buy enough doughnuts for Edmond Mahaon to feed your staff every morning. :)

Additionally, cease the use of the words "exciting", and "soon". :)

I did, we all did. I payed for a lot more too.

If you're referring to stuff you bought in the store then that's your choice, just as it was mine.
They didn't put a price tag on the beyond series so it's free for everyone, even non Horizon players.

Yup devs are cool, I was one,.....oh wait, that means I USED to be cool,.......right?!?

Stuff I bought in the store? You mean everything?

I have a Python wireframe I'd like to see fixed, sure.

OP. Good post. +1

It's easy to rip someone's hard work to pieces. It's harder to create something and present it to the public. I might not agree/like all of FDevs design decisions, communication methods and development speed, but I'd never slag off their game (or them).

Recently I worked on a proposal for a client that I really put everything I had into. The other day I presented it and man I was ready and I g nailed. At least that's what I thought. Half the room loved it and the other half picked it apart like I came up with it the night before drunk at the airport bar instead of the 5 weeks (not counting personal time) that I actually put into it. So while on one hand it was awesome on the other it was a huge kick in the stones. Tonight I was watching Obsidian's "Office Visit" video on YouTube and it made me think about all those guys and gals in the "Frontier Trenches" and what they must feel like after an update. Keep your heads up. The fact you're creating something that stirs the emotions of thousands the way Elite Dangerous does means you're onto something really special.

I haven't really had experiences like that with my work, because when criticism has to be delivered in person, people tend to be constructive and cautious with their wording. I think this goes back to primal days where saying the wrong thing to someone could get you a club over your head.

"You say what Ig? I smash you in da face!"

So while we are unlikely to brain a colleague in a work scenario, we maintain a certain level of civility and respect for the efforts of others.

Enter the internet, where everyone can have a voice with zero consequences for what they say or how they deliver ciriticism.

And that is why on every gaming forum, there are always those who think it is their god given right to hurl whatever abuse they want at hard working people.

This is why i've long advocated for all internet enabled devices to have boxing gloves installed on a spring. If anyone acts like a complete jerk on the net, anyone can send a signal to activate the release of the boxing glove. Sure, initially there would be a lot of people walking around with black eyes, but over time most would learn. Only the diehard jerks would continuously have black eyes.

In short, people are jerks when they don't have to face consequences. Also violence can sometimes be the answer.

The community is often hard with Frontier but fondamentally is tolerant and objective, and appreciate the efforts of Frontier

:)

Please show your reciept for moneys paid for the Beyond series of updates.

No?

Then it is free of charge.

I have a receipt for it, it's called 'Horizons'. I also have a receipt for other stuff I've paid for & not yet received any benefit from, including the aforementioned Python wireframe skin. I suggest that you do not understand what the word 'free' means. It is included in the price of an existing DLC, which is not (and so far has not been offered) for free. In addition it requires the base game which I paid for.

This forum is free, it does not require ownership of any other Frontier assets to use despite requiring (for example) a computer.

Everyone at Frontier need some love. Without Frontier we wouldn't have Elite: Dangerous and regardless of what one thinks of the game I think the gaming world is a lot better off with the game existing.

Personally I still love Elite: Dangerous and I appreciate everyone at Frontier who have been involved with the game.

Thank you Frontier!

A great adventure since the kickstarter.

What is impressive is that the community is still there since the day one.
