perhaps when you go to land at the next station after you level up they could send out some fireworks.... OH SHEEET THEY ARE MISSILES AND LASERBEAMS!!!

But seriously, a comms from the Pilots Fed would be nice... AFTER YOU LAND or it might be too much like 'big brother' if they somehow mysteriously know you ranked up without landing and updating their computer with your exploits :D

An in-game e-mail/messaging system would be pretty useful for things like this. Could be used for a lot of other things, e.g., messages from factions you're allied with about wars or other significant events, building more depth into missions through follow-ups (e.g., "thanks for clearing pirates out of a trade route, business is prospering" or "that last mission really stirred up a hornet's next, can you come back and help us"). Could add some much-needed depth to the gameplay experience.

dude they have in game messaging, It does not work. let's not make it more complicated... Lol

Perhaps when you dock and the promotion is confirmed there could be celebratory laser fire & special blinkenlites around your landing pad...

And a few hundred credits automatically deducted from your account for the party.

I was on novice in combat last time I checked. Check again expert. Hmm quite a bit of ranking up. Granted I was terrorizing the local police force.

It would have been cool to have the computer tell you, "Right on, Commander!" when you ranked up. But, I really got to agree that there should be more to ranking up than a belayed change of rank-name. An email, a comm text, a Christmas card, something! I also agree with a couple of folks who posted before me; this is a missed opportunity to make the game more immersive and enjoyable. I'm sure they may have something planned later on, but by then I may be Elite already, and maxed on rank in the Imperial and Federation navies. Oh well. At least the newer players would have more to look forward to.

Trivial I know, but today I ranked up a level in trading and didn't even realise. Even though this is an open ended game, one of the "points" is to progress through the ranks. A little recognition when this happens would go a long way to making it seem like an accomplishment.

A simple "right on commander" from the computer or a message from the pilots federation would be a nice touch at this point and surely not difficult to implement.

Totally agree, we badly need 'Right on Commander!' back with us.
Frankly I'm amazed it wasn't put right in at the start.
