Greetings!
Here is my list of suggestions for the future of Elite. I have been playing this game for years now, so the list will be long!! Why did I wait so long? Well, because I have been playing video games for 35 years now and I know that, there are things that will only bother novices, but, as soon as you learn them properly, they won‘t be a problem anymore.... And I didn‘t wanna put any "novice" suggestions here. Only things that I constantly find annoying and stupid, even after years of playing. So, let‘s get this party started:
1. Combat:
The most idiotic/illogical design decision: For example, let‘s say i get massacre missions from 5 different factions, all wanting me to kill members of the same pirate faction; one needs me to kill 54 pirates, the other 72, the third 33, the fourth 28 and the fifth 82. I should be able to only kill 82 pirates and get the rewards from all 5 factions. Because, let‘s say that, I get a mission from the CIA, FBI, NSA and Secret Service. They want me to kill 2, 4, 7 and 10 members of a terrorist group. I will only have to go to the meeting place, kill the 10 terrorists for the Secret Service and get payed in full by the CIA, FBI, NSA and Secret Service, because I killed all my targets, for all the factions. It‘s not like, I will have to go to the meeting place, kill the 10 terrorists, and then go back, or wait around, until I can kill the 2, 4 and 7 terrorists from the same group... Ridiculous design decisions... Borderline stupid almost.
The other thing here is - If i accept 10 massacre missions/assassination missions, etc and my squad members each pick other 10 massacre missions/assassination missions, we should be able to share ALL missions with each other, Kill the highest number of enemies from the list and get payed for all 10 massacre/assassination missions from the entire squad.... Why are you so against players making money and ranking up faster? Is this some kind of fetish for ya?
What difference does it make anyway? Me and my squad are only doing PVE, private server or solo... We don‘t care about pvp, or open play, because we all have been playing games for decades, to escape other people.... Not to let them annoy us even in video games.... people are annoying enough in life.... So yea, ok, make things more complicated and difficult for pvp players... We all agree on that,... But for pve and role playing/immersive play, .... really?
And the last suggestion for combat: Ranking Up should be MUCH MUCH MUCH faster!!!! This is beyond ridiculous!!! I am Deadly. At 60 percent.... more or less... have been stuck with this number since... I don‘t know how long.... Killing elites and Deadlies.... ranking up speed is stupid!! if I am Deadly, the logical pace would be 1 or 2 % rank up progression for every Deadly enemy I kill, 3 to 5 % rank up progression for every Elite that I kill... So if I am Deadly, I kill about 20 Elites and become Elite rank. I would also be satisfied with 50 Elites to get from Deadly To Elite. And If I am Harmless and somehow manage to kill an Elite, there should be at least a 10 or 20% raise in rank progression. I mean really people... Why are you making things so unnecessarily difficult to complete?
And please stop it, with the whole "entering mission area and killing 4 enemies, before having to go back into supercruise and re-enter the mission area to kill another 4 or 5 enemies, before, AGAIN, having to get out and back in", because when you have 98 enemies to kill, this is very annoying and a waste of time... Either make it so that at least 50 enemies are in there, attacking merchants or something (use your imagination), and you can help them, or just stop with the mission areas all together and just let us kill them the way we want to. Either by going to resource sites and killing them there, etc... Give us options! Every player should be able to make this game as easy or as hard for himself as he/she wants.
2. Planetary Scan Jobs: Basically, the same ridiculous design decision as with combat. If there are 10 different factions who want me to scan the same base in the same system, for data or assassination targets, I should be able to just go to said system, travel to the said base, do 1 scan and get the data/assassination target locations, for all factions! Not being made to scan, leave the planet, go back to planet, scan, leave the planet, go back to planet, scan,....etc... This must be a fetish for you...i am sure
You want people to loose their minds playing this, right? You can tell me....
3. Passengers/Exploration: It is funny that, even in 2019, all our airplanes have auto pilot, yet in the year of 3305, they kinda don't
There should be a full on auto pilot for all those monthly journeys through the galaxy. at least on journeys of 30+ jumps. Example: i accept a mission to fly passengers to the centre of the galaxy, Colonia, etc... A place far away. Instead of loosing my mind and getting bored on the way, watching all the suns, fuel scooping and plotting routes, i should be able to just accept the mission, plot my route, as soon as I get out of the station, engage the auto pilot and let it do everything - Start the journey, take the passenger to the destination and back... fuel scooping etc, on the way, when needed. Or, at least give us the option of activating auto pilot when we get tired and want to go to sleep, turning the game off and the next time we come back to it, our ship would be waiting for us at the final destination that we have set for the ship, before turning the game off. I know it can be done, because many other games have that "convenience" nowadays! Or, of course, make the jump distances that ships can do, longer. About 200-500 ly jumps un-engineered and 500-1000 ly jumps engineered. OR, even better, get rid of the stupid jump scheme and put in actual hyper drives, where you just plot your course and go. No jumping... just engage warp and boom....there she goes.... The galaxy is huge enough... How will we be able to see all the fascinating things you put into it, if we are doing snail speeds in comparison to the vastness of the galaxy?
4. Stop it with the grind!! JUST STOP IT WITH THE DAMNED GRIND!!!! Especially for guardian tech...what??? Are you insane?? I actually went to play Dark Souls 3 after one of those Guardian tech grind sessions and it made me feel more relaxed than ELITE!!! This should all be part of one or two longer, exciting missions. or just a matter of going to the Guardian place, scan, do all the riddles and get the blueprint for the entire weapon, module, etc.... JUST PLEASE, STOP IT WITH THE GRIND!!!!!
5. Crime: it is stupid that you are teleported 300 ly away to a prison, for a 200 cr. fine. Should be a minimum fine of 1000 cr. before that happens. If it‘s less, you should be able to just pay the fine, and off you go.... Second, If you get scanned with illegal cargo or passengers, instead of blowing you out of the sky after 5 seconds, the authorities should let you know what you have done wrong, confiscate the cargo and/or passengers, fine you, and send you on your way. those missions would be marked "failed" but at least you would have a chance of completing the other missions. Unless of course, you resist and open fire on them.
6. Engineer missions: All the missions that engineers send you on, before being able to engineer your ship, should be more dynamic/versatile. For example: Selene Jean - When you get to her, she would say "I need you to get me 500T of this mineral or that, of which 10T, must be Panite. You have 2 options on how to achieve that. 1. You can go mine for it, OR 2, there is an Anaconda/Corvette/Cutter,etc..., by the name of "whatever", that is transporting 700T of ore and Panite in the X system, and you can intercept it if you want and steal the ore/Panite from him/her. But, be careful, he/she is travelling with a few backups, so be ready for a fight, or take your squadron with you"... just an example.... Or " an Anaconda has crashed on planet X in the X system, carrying the load, but we are not the only ones interested in it so, be quick and careful...."
7. Squadrons: Since we have them, I have no clue, why we can‘t exchange money, modules, goods, etc, within the squadron. Why is there no shared bank account or shared storage facility anywhere? For example: In our squadron, one person likes to do mining, one likes to explore, one likes to do combat, one likes to engineer, etc... Why is there no option to help each other? The mining squadron member could put in materials and different minerals, the exploration member could share exploration data and money, combat member, money and materials, engineer could take squad members ships and engineer them,...etc... You know, as a squadron would do. Please add it!
8. Other: If I have 2 empty seats in my ship, why can‘t I just fill them with two NPS‘s ? Even if I don‘t have a hangar... it would be amazing if I could just have 2 NPC‘s with me, I land on a planet, put one NPC into an Srv and tell him to go mine for this and that, while meanwhile take the other NPC to a different planet/system, send him out in an Srv to mine other things, while i go complete other missions, and come back for them as soon as I am finished. And if, a squad member wishes to join my crew, one of the NPC‘s would just be replaced by him. Another awesome thing would be, if i could put NPC‘s as pilots for my Beluga Liner and make them take on passenger missions, put another one into my mining ship and send him to mine, while I do combat and vice versa. Just to give you a feeling of being the Boss of your own firm. Or actually, become a boss in time and send NPC‘s around to do different things, while you just run the company, in case you are not in the mood for anything special at that particular moment
Suggestions for the future updates: 3rd person mode - What is the point of being able to customise your self and ships if there is no 3rd person view?? Never understood that. And we all actually prefer 3rd person view in our squadron. Next, The ability to actually fly in a wing with my squad members... In formation...close together. because now, it takes forever to engage supercruise after the first member has jumped and then he/she has to wait in the next system, until the rest of us get our behinds to that system and when we are cruising in supercruise and one of us gets interdicted the others are too far behind to exit supercruise with the interdicted member. Or, give us the ability to counter interdict the person who is interdicting our squad member. The ability to attack and board big ships like the Anaconda, Cutter, Corvette, and larger. For example: An Anaconda attacks me, I disable it by destroying its thrusters etc, i get closer to it, where I would be prompted if i would like to board the ship. I click "YES", the camera shifts to inside my ship, to my character (option of having it in 3rd person or 1st person mode), waiting at the door, until the ship positions itself for boarding. Doors open. You take your NPC soldiers or Squad members into the other ship, or go by yourself, doing battle inside the ship, making your way to the bridge and taking over the ship. Then, you could take all the cargo for yourself or the squad and designate an NPC to be the new captain of the ship, and add the ship to your fleet. You can limit the amount of ships that one can have in a fleet,if you want, because I know that is your fetish, but we all think this would be an awesome idea!!!
Space legs!!!!!!!! SPACE LEGS!!!!! And the ability to infiltrate ships, planetary bases, etc... Switch from a Space sim to a 3rd person action adventure game, and back... I mean, this game has so much potential that it is mind blowing... And these are only ideas from 3 people from a small country in Europe... We are very surprised, that none of you has had ANY of these ideas yet and/or have not implemented them...
Ship carriers: Better have all the Commodity/Black Markets, Refuel/Restock/Repair, Missions, Outfitting,...etc... So we can be as independent as possible. And of course, the ability to traverse thousands of light years in just minutes... And the capability to have the carrier "parked" in a designated system as a base, while we go do our business and with which we can tail it out of there in case of troubles... be true pirates...
These are just a few ideas that have been accumulating within us for years now, and were really hoping to see them in an update, but, they never came, so, we decided, it was time, to let you know!
And again, OK, you can disable these "conveniences" in Open play....we don‘t care... Do with open play what you want.... just give us something less grindy and time wasting in Private and solo!
Not all of us, have 12 hours of free time, every day, to grind that . I promise you that, at least we and from what I have seen and heard, at least half of the community, will never play another game again, until we die, if you implement at lest 80 percent of the new things which I have suggested here, and get rid of those nonsensical, stupid and illogical design decisions which i have mentioned at the beginning....
You are awesome and this game has a lot of potential, so please, don‘t screw it up. Thank you!!!! We love you FRONTIER!!!
Yours truly,
