A Mandalay based expedition?

Just throwing this out there. With the release of the Mandalay a lot of explorers are going to be letting their current exploration ships gather dust and want to go somewhere in the Mandalay.

Perhaps an organized expedition in Mandalays would provide some fun, and if nothing else, generate some nice screenshots for our beloved screenshot simulator.

I would suggest any such expedition is planned for after the paywall is gone, so 3+ months after initial release, plus a little bit extra to allow people to engineer them to their liking.

Would there be interest in such a thing? Would anyone be willing to take the lead on organizing/planning it?

There are expeditions going on now, there are going to be expeditions going in the timeframe you wrote, and I don't know whether an expedition restricting participants to just one ship would be popular. But hey, you never know until you try. The most important part would be the goals and targets of the expedition.

If you'd like to make group screenshots, maybe try joining one and asking folks on it if they'd like to do a Mamba Mandalay meet-up? With what has been revealed so far, I expect it'll be The most popular exploration ship anyway, with only the small ships remaining popular for exobio.

You've never been involved in a themed exploration trip?

There have been a few. There was the Small ships expedition (sorry, can't remember the exact name of it) and I ran the Silly Ships 1 and 2 expeditions.

Nothing silly about the Mandalay though.

@Agony_Aunt : Huh, you're right, I forgot about such. (Never been involved with any ship-themed expeditions, no.) Still, there's a significant difference between "restricted to some ships" and "restricted to one ship"... but hey, if you're interested, go for it! And even if there shouldn't be many people signing up for such, like I suggested, you could still organise Mandalay Meet-ups on general expeditions. Folks can switch ships at carriers, after all.

I have a plan to make an expedition. Trojan Belt, where is new "Explorers Bubble" created by Ryan Family Foundation, and from there to the Beagle Point, and back to the Bubble before Christmas Time.

A good idea is also to just organize a meeting with the new ships, to check out peoples outfitting choices, since the Mandalay can fit multiple roles!

Cool. But will wait for the Mandalay to release before going on another trip, which won't be before January i guess?

The farthest I have traveled from the bubble is Saggitarius A*. I have been thinking that once the Mandalay comes out, I will finally venture "north" of that, as a personal expedition of sorts.

Any interesting systems to visit north of Sag A*?
