A message probably lost to the sea.

"mobile gaming" GPU : less power consumption, less heat, less gaming (ignore me, it's just a bad joke)
Also very true.
Still, being able to get my laptop to a secluded mountains cabin and be able to play EDO on a 3g mobile connection, beats the hell out of any desktop 3070 or 3080 :D

+1 for the 1080 ti master race comment

@Northpin, what did your 3080 laptop replace, I'd be curious to hear what a 3080 laptop would be like against a full fat 1080 laptop in real world terms not just the conclusions I'm drawing by looking up various benchmark websites, predominantly passmark.

My older laptop was another asus, i7-9750h, gtx1660ti/6gb, 16gb ram.
The current rtx3080/16gb is running along ryzen 9 5900hx and 32gb ram. So the upgrade was rather substantial.

Use a desktop. You can keep on upgrading the thing till the cows come home. Change the disks. Change the memory. Change the motherboard. Have bigger screens. Add more screens. Have many more usb ports. Etc.

That is my advice!
