Frontier Developments - Frontier Developments reiterates full-year forecasts following strong Planet Zoo launch

Plant Zoo was released on 5 November
Frontier Developments PLC (LON:FDEV) says it is “comfortable” with analyst forecasts for its current year following strong launch sales for its Planet Zoo video game following its 5 November launch.
The Cambridge-based game developer reiterated its expectation that revenue for the year ending 31 May 2020 will range between £65mln-£73mln, adding that “two major new releases” from its internal development teams were also planned for its 2022 financial year.

The firm added that its theme park simulation game, Planet Coaster, will release on consoles next summer following its success on PC, while a downloadable content pack for its Jurassic World Evolution game will be released on 10 December.
A new release for the group’s Elite Dangerous sci-fi simulation game is also planned for 2021.
Analysts at Frontier’s house broker Liberum retained their ‘buy’ rating and 1,800p target price, saying the expansion of Planet Coaster to console was “strategically important”.
Meanwhile, Shore Capital said the planned 2022 releases were “positive news” as it was above the original target of one release per year and gave analysts “proof of confidence, and scale within the team”.
In early trading on Friday, FDEV’s shares were 3.1% higher at 1,264p.

I thought the next big release was next year, 2020, is this a mistake, have frontier pushed back the release date of next update back to 2021 or is this something different than next year content release or a new elite game altogether or am I simply misreading it.

That was unintentional leak of delay!
Well they're probably aware that "New Era" will slip into 2021 but didn't said it here cos they already have enough delays with FC.
They will announce New era delay in autumn 2020 after FC release.
Did you really think that they will release it in Q4 2020 as planned?😂

It's better with some leeway in the release schedule, allowing for a more stable product, in my opinion at least.

They might have mentioned FD fiscal year of 2021... which seems to start on 1/Jun/2020
Based on a quick read I presume the article refers to fiscal year 2021 (June 2020 to May 2021). As per FDEVs latest RNS news release the plan is indeed to release Elite new era within that fiscal year and they are currently targeting late 2020 (probably Christmas).

Thankyou that probably the correct answers. I forget fiscal years can be different to the actual year.

May be close this thread before the doom mongers arrive and it descends in to usual arguments and bickering.

Heh, in fact, I’m sure that the transfer to 2021-2022 will be announced no later than the summer-autumn of 2020. And the reason is not so difficult to find. After all, there was a reason for transferring fleet Carrier, although there is not even a new mechanic :)
