A new update/DLC coming soon?

I believe the current forum contest is running for a shorter time and with a smaller prize than the contests we normally see here. Perhaps it is there to keep us busy this week and then they will hit us with news next week. Or perhaps it is just wishful thinking.
but it's been 23 hours since their Facebook post. If we get something today I would think it should be soon, if they post about the same time. Not that I'm noticing.Now I am also a bit worried that there could be no DLC in autumn but I am still more optimistic than pessimistic

Considering that they aren't saying anything at all, not even a "We'll look into that" or "We have nothing to announce", that's something.Now I am also a bit worried that there could be no DLC in autumn but I am still more optimistic than pessimistic
You know, I've been thinking about these discussion threads they started: are they another, more subtle way to get feedback for the game? Specifically the last 2 discussions: "What's your favorite DLC" and "What do you wish you knew when you first started"
FWIW, the DLCs we've gotten so far this year have been announced mid-month with the release coming toward end of the month. Free update gets announced first (with a focus on a key/major new feature) and then the DLC a day or two after. While this would make things a little tighter/scrunched for a December DLC...
We are still technically within the realm of a September announcement based on the patterns we've been seeing throughout 2021. No reason to worry just yet, from my perspective.

I dont care about Dinosaurs and JWE:2... that would be a bit unfair for the PZ Community...
agree with this. Something very much seems to be up. I strongly think it’s maintenance mode. Perhaps PZ2 development is starting?
Agree it feels like something's up, but I doubt it's PZ2 yet.
I literally mean it’s starting. (Or least more than a skeleton team.) So in the early design phase they would like input to shape that roadmap. We won’t see it for several years.
It seems too ... soon for a sequel.
Maybe a special update? I can't think of much about what they could add that's animal related (because every update has something related to animals, whether big or small. I heard big cat deep diving at one point)

If they’re doing early design work now, assume a ton of work behind the scenes before an announcement is made, so we would see it in 6 years? Which is 8 years after the original and totally reasonable.

Frontier is very much still working on PZ. Claiming they started to work on a sequel because we have not heard news exactly every 3 months is straight out ridiculous imo. Why do people even think there will be a sequel in the first place? JWE is not the best title to compare it to since its a licenced game.

maybe they decide start making bigger and better dlcs, imagine having 8 animals and scenarios, instead the old model, or maybe the aviariam pack
I have to completely agree. we go from "we know something must be coming soon" to "They're working on PZ2!! and that's what we're not hearing anything" in the course of an hour. The two are not exclusive and they can both be true.
I checked up on the past 4 free update announcement times on twitter and they are all around 4am/6am CT so it seems we arent getting anything this week... Hopes are for next week!
In fairness, I believe it’s different people saying “we know something is coming” and “they are working on PZ2.” In the ebb and flow of board conversation, one side rises and the other falls off. Deathquell made a really good post that started me down a road I have been playing with for days. I haven’t posted anything about coming soon in days because the CM post in this thread said to me pretty loudly we aren’t getting anything this month. Maybe they do announce a 20 animal aviary pack tomorrow but — to me — it seems unlikely. As I believe you yourself said, something feels different here.

Africa, SEA, and Aquatic were all announced on Mondays... The last free update announced on a Tuesday was Australia. I don't think they would break this streak and Australia pack was during a weird time in the world as we all know
