Just moved out of Zelano to concentrate on getting Corvette --- it is a great System very central for everything choice of High Tech Systems one jump away-- good internal trade--- central for engineers-------well worth a look
Aditi at the bottom of the bubble, has a nice blue star and an earth like world orbited by Pew-1901, a fancy station with red lights. also has a massive city on one of the planets
I've been grinding for cutter from Cubeo, it's pretty good out there. (but i can't remember economy type lol).

Hi ! i don't really get what you want to do in a "nice imperial system"... is it trading (if yes what?) or doing passengers missions ? or both ?
Please give us more details on this. Anyway if you want to do missions in general i bet you already know that everything is link to your allied status with factions.
So if you work hard on few systems links by economic routes in order to be at least allied with 2 or 3 factions in each you will for sure have a great business to exploit.

It is a tourism economy and there are plenty of nearby systems that would equally suit as a home system.

Ideally I'd like to find a system that has good outfitting and several Empire factions that i can ally with and get the rank grind going, especially if some of those factions are present in neighboring systems.
When i was doing the Fed rank grind i chose YZ Ceti as its High Tech and the controlling faction is in nearby systems, such as Tau Ceti. It also has decent RES areas and plenty of Fed factions, plus good passenger missions.
Looking to find something similar in the Empire, and if i can find a nice station, then that would be a bonus
I'm currently docked at Miller Terminal in Exioce

This region is nice (Exioce) you find good opportunities in A Lavigny Duval and Aisling Duval territories for sure...
Try Vistaenis or Atlantis (it's more to point this region than those systems because there is a great potential outhere).

Exactly, Jamesion Memorial isn't far at all from this area of space.
Sadly i've not reached Elite yet.
Currently 35% through Ranger and have a lot of exploration to do yet so shouldn't be too long hopefully

Napia is very nice, it's not a High Tech economy but it has decent outfitting and iirc is neighboring a High Tech system. Also Napia has a long list of Imperial factions, many of whom are present in a LOT of the neighboring systems. I have a small bubble of seven or so factions across at least six systems all allied.
And shush it Mord Though I have to say it is rather typical of the simple minded Fed to screech and smear excrement on the walls when Imperial matters are being discussed. The only surpise is that it didn't happen sooner...

Some of these suggestions are way out there. If you are looking to efficiently advance in ratings to purchase Imperial ships then Aditi (way out there) is still viable. I wrote a how-to on it so do a search. If you are looking for a lot of commerce, combat and prosperous systems all local to each other then they are abundant 50LY around the Empire capital of Achenar.
Here are some items to consider when looking for a home base:
Conveniently located in the Achenar local area.
3000 LS approach to the station so many won't bother flying in.
A system requiring a permit will also keep many away.
Lots of ships in the shipyard.
High end modules. If the system doesn't have it then nearby systems will.
Multiple REZ sites for advancing the combat/mining ratings. Combat zone systems nearby.
At least four or more Empire factions (some have many more) to get allied with. This is VERY important.
All of this is available in the Empire. We do very well. Those Federation pukes don't show up much. When they do they have a bad day. Edward Lewis never lives streams in our playground!

I have done alright since moving to cubeo, it's fairly rich in opportunity with regards to scan jobs and passenger missions, but these things are all reputation based, i just tend to stay around the power capitals, in this case Cubeo.
i'm based in Kaiakul system high tech, 5 imperial factions high rez close to the station lots of empire systems in close proximity single jump from Achenar
