You know OP you may have just hit on a gem of an idea. I still have my starter Cobra Mk III and can make it ultra cheap to rebuy too. It's fast too and still a favourite ship of mine to potter around in sometimes when looking for materials etc. +1 rep to you!

I'm a schizophrenic. Trust me, it took a lot of personal battle to man up & admit I'm better suited to ultra-cheap throwaway ships.

But now I look at it... Meh. Big ships are exactly the same game as small ships.

I'm losing nothing. Indeed, at a personal level, I may actually be gaining.

You have found the secret of Elite, Grasshopper.

Small ships - More fun

I won't lie. The Sidewinder has the best cockpit in the game, in my humble opinion.

After getting my posterior handed to me (several times) by someone flying a tanked up Sidewinder in Lave, I copied their build as best as I could and I must say I haven't had this much fun since, well, the last time I had a Sidewinder! With Enhanced Performance Thrusters and engineering mods, practically *NOBODY* can touch me now...

What's so good about this build?

Well,
I don't have to be faster than the Thargoids, I just have to be faster than you :p

Slapping on the 2A enhanced drives will drive up the rebuy somewhat, but engineering is rebuy-free, and 600 m/s without having to unlock Prof. Palin is worth it.

@Knightshark: the Sidey with the enhanced drives can go over 600 m/s (depending on whether you have unlocked Palin for the DD G5 or have to work with Felicity for DD G3) and is, unlike the other small ships, relatively tolerant towards an otherwise full loadout. Plus, unless you fly in a straight line, it's very hard to hit.

The Sidey's cockpit is a bit shabby, though. Those two water hoses could use some covering up.
