Horizons A question

First off, I'm not sure if this is where I should be posting this, so if its not in the right place, feel free to move it.

I recently purchased Elite dangerous on steam, and payed 30$ for it. After playing it for a few hours, I relized that you needed horizons to be able to use a lot of features, such as landing on planets. I checked and horizons is another 30$. Was I supposed to buy Elite dangerous: Horizons? Do i have to spend another 30$ now?

If you bought it through the Elite Dangerous website, you could put in a support ticket and explain that you purchased the wrong one, they may fix it that way, but if you purchased the game through an outside vendor then you are probably out of luck. But most of us had to pay twice for the original and Horizons update, and I recall a lot of complaining back then about it, but Horizons was a major update, so basically, it was a new game with a lot more features added into it. Was a small price to pay, its a good game, can be as immersive as you want it to be.

Personally I think Elite + Horizons is well worth $60, however... they go on sale quite often for $30 total... so maybe ask for a refund and wait for the next sale?

Horizons is an expansion for the base game of Elite Dangerous so you need the base game as well as Horizons.

I don't know about the $30 price tag - often both parts plus some in-game goodies are offered in the Commander de Luxe Edition for well under £30 (regular price £40) so maybe if you are less than 2 hours play time you can get a refund from Steam and watch for the next sale on the Frontier Store.

Yes when I purchased mine both the base and horizons expansion was available in the deluxe version along with some paint packs, but you could also buy them as separate items. In store the current price for the deluxe edition is twice the price of the base edition, so to get both it's going to cost the same amount buying them together or separate, however you will miss out on the paint packs that come with the deluxe edition.
