A quite BIG Discovery!

At first I thought Frontier would never add any extinct animals to the game. Mainly due them taking a more realistic approach for Planet Zoo (But also because of Jurassic World Evolution). But after I unpacked ManagementTextures.ovl with cobra-tools, I found this:

Wow, I'm really excited to find out what the Scientist was supposed to do. Extinct Animals would be great.
Maybe at first it was planned to let the Scientists research Diseases but for some Reason it was changed

Well extinct Animals seem pointless as none have been resurrected. But including a lot more Animals from a Endangered point is great but no to a few Animals for Cash! needs to be a good collection before i pay out. Of course with modern science it could become possible to bring back extinct Animals but lets wait until it happens in real life. Problem being is so many Animals to cover, let alone Building tools and Nature Items, a lot to include, bit limited to staff load. We certainly need a lot more, but no silly add-ons futuristic etc. One thing that is a massive want is an Editor so can design easier and quicker. Pathing is a Nightmare! Need a Full Map grid. The one big problem is getting bored of game, before a lot included.

I Urufu1997 that maybe it was or will be used for something totally unrelated to extinct animals. At the same time I thought it was weird to include a dodo statue. I guess I wouldn’t mind some extinct animals depending on what they are but there’s still a lot of living animals I’d rather have.

I don't know if there was something behind the link that lead anyone to think of extinxt species.. but other than that, you know, scientists are doing a lot more than searching for dinosaurs. Currently they are busy saving humainity from a aggressive virus, so... A scientist can mean a lot.

The Scientists were originally going to do research before this was given to Vets instead, making it an easier and more streamlined process for players. Like we always say, game development is a very fluid discipline that is inherent to a lot of changes before a game finally launches, and while we do our best to keep the game files neat and up to date, there's sometimes a legacy file that slips through!
Where possible (like this one), we're happy to clarify how a change came to be; other things might not happen at all, so it's probably best to not get your hopes up or start this kind of speculation when you go digging through game files. :D

Makes definitely sense to me at the end. Still due, would love to see a collection of the original concept art one day.

Swjosdotschka's got a point. The word scientist is a very broad one. They could be geneticists, paleontologists, pathologists, zoologists, you name it. If there's any mysterious/intriguing phenomenon going about, there's bound to be someone investigating it. That is what a scientist truly is.

Maybe Tom Cruise was going to be in the game, I think he would only need an exhibit cage. Hold on though he's not a Scientist is he, he is at the other end of the spectrum as far from Science as you can get :)
