A Very British launch

I must say the live demo at the end did make me wee my pants a little bit :D (That made me feel less British).

A jolly good show FDEV :)

Having past the big 50 I have to say I seem to be doing this now, shaking just doesn't seem to cut it these days....I am British and probably smell of wee....proud

Was entertaining for the most part, light on content or new information, a little cringe inducing at times (but that's what happens when you put nerds on tv.. I'm sure I would be just as bad!), but entertaing. I hope they made enough money from the twitch ads, entry fee and merchandise sales to cover the costs though. Also I'm left wondering was it really necessary? Do other games launch with this sort of thing? Maybe I've just not paid enough attention before but it seemed a little.... Apple like... Elite Dangerous is okay, plagued by issues right now, lacking content and being released probably six months too soon but its got a decent chance of being a good game, but I'm not sure it really deserves such "rockstar" treatment you know, in fact I'm not sure any game does (or rockstars for that matter).

I'm waiting for ED to be very Apple like with the OSX version. The launch stream was entertaining enough, though as there didn't actually seem to be much new (including the video footage), I think about an hour was a good length.

As a stream watcher, I thought the quick interviews with random-ish attendees were the most interesting bits, and particularly admired the informed and level-headed review of the Rift that so terrified that presenter bloke. It's sad when cross-marketing is so important, simple facts or well-supported opinions are less so. I too would have replaced the perfectly tolerable presenters with Kate Russell, if my power fantasy came true.

To put that in context, I mostly dislike watching marketing, and the people who commit marketing. I fast forward over TV adverts given the chance.

The Cobra model was pretty darned good though, and the setting was nice.

Very good quality stream from my end, i feel some of the answers to questions seemed a bit "fumbly" at times, but still very good show. I have watched all SC streams too, but this was of a better quality than any of them.

Jessica Chobot did an excellent job as well as looking gorgeous too. Definitely added to the eye candy for me.

Was disappointed that not much new was disclosed.

The presenters were pretty clueless, they should have at least known a bit about what they were talking about.

I think they were quite well informed.

Their questions were not to satisfy their own curiosities, but to inform viewers about what the game is about. This "reveal" is a sales pitch, nothng more.

So to make it a sales pitch, they had to script some questions, that people who don't know much about the game were likely to ask.

Hey I'm a colonial!!!!

Oh you meant THOSE colonials! ;)

I think many of these 'colonials' will be more satisfied when Star Citizen launches, perhaps. If that game ever launches. The more people throw monye at it, the longer development will take. Let's put this in, let's put that in. It is getting stupid. But I bet, in typical american flashy fashion it will be a grandiose setup.

You should... they are a great background to the game. Kate's is a little more light hearted if you are not a big reader but Lave Revolution is an excellent book with a lot of depth

I actually liked Mostly Harmless better than Lave Revolution, which felt it was trying a bit too hard. Mostly Harmless shows all the important bits of the ED setting with a darkly humorous picaresque, but neither is it Ladybird Learning To Read level.
