A3 versus B3 shield cell bank

Other than being slightly heavier the B3 looks the better part, am I missing something?

The B3 has less power draw and +1 ammo capacity. Any compelling reason why the A module is worth nearly an extra hundred K for less uses?

B gives more recharge overall due to the extra ammo but each single charge gives less.

I agree the B is better but watch out for the weight is pretty much the biggest downer if using multiple SCBs.

Cheers Alex, I'm only using the one so the weight penalty is only 3t. Each charge dishing out a bit less makes sense

Found it. Was going to edit/update but you replied too soon :)

This article is invaluable. It completely changed my understanding of shield cell banks and how they should be used. I am outfitting a Fer De Lance and had looked at 4A banks but the chart shows that each charge from a 4A is only 25 mj greater than each charge from a 3A. However the 4As weigh twice as much (an extra 5t). In trying to keep the weight down to under 50% of the thrusters optimum mass (which seems to be important) this difference was significant. 2 3As and a 2A working together have made a big difference to how I can use this ship.
