Ability to change clock

There is no UTC time zone and their for it should no be used as a time if Para Handy sets his clock to UTC he hasn't set it to any time at all, ......
Really? Only this person gets it? The annoying and maddeningly stupid thing is that two different UI panels show two different times.

1. Negative - I set it to an agreed world-wide accepted time standard that I and many millions around the world use for co-ordination and communication.

2. You need to read threads properly - I mentioned that in post #18.

Lots of people do that in the mistaken belief that it'll help them show up in time. In reality of course the brain compensates, so it only works for a day or so. It's easier just to mark your agenda early to hive extra time to arrive.
Of course, this resolves the OP's problem, everyone is using 20% of their brain to work out the 'real' time, so nobody has an advantage.
🤔😁

Guess regularly travelling for work across timezones makes it less of a bother to me, I dunno. But my home "office" has a clock right above my desk.

I've been reading about people who want their elite clock to display their time instead of UTC, but I've only just gotten answers like 'it suits a game based in the universe' and 'you can't change it' so I'm just here requesting the ability to change the clock in the HUD between UTC and local. It's just kinda annoying having to press my start button on my keyboard to get the real time. The salt on the wound is that the clock is only an hour behind, so it's not even significant, it just adds 20% more brain power to reading the time when I'm already concentrated on handling my pips and guns.

Please Fdev! I just want to be able to shift my clock one hour forward! It's more annoying than trying to sleep on a warm summer midnight.
You got to be kidding, you cant add an hour?
Im at gmt -5 and i have no trouble subtracting 5 from the displayed time.

Ah! The solution to all inadequacies in Elite game's features, employ a 3rd party app. 😊
It's hardware... And I had the keyboard long before I played ED.
That said, it's no more an inadequacy than another game sticking to the time zone of the company that runs it... You know, like the other 100% of online games.
The difference is that FDev are in a real TZ, rather than a silly made up one somewhere in the US.

Buy a wristwatch. Having one time (galatic time) is a benefit for this game. It makes organising meet ups easy if everyone uses galatic time
I've got one but can't see it very easily with the VR headset on, so it's handy having a clock in-game. I've no interest in meeting up with others so that application is of no use to me, although fair enough for others - that's why the two clock suggestion seems like the best one.

My desk clock is in UTC - but as a radio amateur that is second nature.

Honestly, people can accept flitting about in space at multiples of c but can't accept that their "space existence" requires a universal co-ordinated time standard.

What they should be complaining about is that messages in-game have local time-stamps, that is the crazy thing.

I could tell you the same thing. If I were a Richard. That (my italics above) IS what I'm complaining about. But I suppose I need to become a radio amateur to please you.

Maybe two clocks, one which is UTC the other can be set to you local computer time.

Them we can reference both

Exactly, nobody will die just because you can see a time different from yours.

Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care?

I do if I play at night, I often misjudge the local time and end up staying awake for too long.
Is it bad for you if I can set my ship time to my local time (or any other time for that matter)?

Actually if you bothered to pay attention you would have seen that I was referring to your "Really? Only this person gets it? " remark. I have no idea why you should associate that with any derision or devaluing of your point about the disparity which I of course agree with. Why you should choose to be rude in response is a mystery.
