about skill

Mouse is superior for aiming, joysticks are superior for everything else.

I like to position so I use dual joys. Hypothetically the best would be mouse+joy but I don't know anyone who's tried it

I can see why you'd say that, let me try to explain. Mouse and keyboard gives great accuracy, and access to as many commands as needed, as hotkeys you can remember, therefore, it is a more 'efficient' way of playing the game, the top pvp players are KBM users I believe. However, we are all HOTAS users because we are sufficiently skilled with the joystick to prefer the more rewarding levels of immersion it provides, even if it might put us at a tiny, tiny disadvantage. :)
Yeah it's a small disadvantage against top players but otherwise so rewarding it's hardly worth mentioning. Hotas is way more fun!

Worth giving it a shot. Cos the T16000m is ambidextrous it works well. Twist throttle takes getting used to though

It would take relearning from the ground up. I only got into flying FAOff with the keypad & mouse, and I'm having trouble figuring out how it would translate to a HOTAS much less dual sticks. I am intrigued. Your flying is as good or better than any pilot I've ever come across, including players like Rinzler/Sundae/Oddisee, so I'm eager to learn.

I used twin stick back when I played star Citizen. The control you get is pretty brutal and you'd be surprised how fast you get it. The only reason I haven't done it in ED is because I like having all the other controls at my fingertips besides maneuvering and combat, but for dead set maneuverability control, twin stick is king.
As Grape says though, left stick and mouse (in relative mode) would likely be the nastiest combo. I never did managed to get my head around that one though. The types of movement are too different. With twin stick, it's more intuitive and easy to visualise. When I did it, I used a T16000m on the left and a Logitech E3D Pro on the right.
