Accepted First Mission, now my Sidewinder is gone

Hi All, I'm totally a noob at all things Elite Dangerous not to mention Odyssey. So I've spent the last two days fumbling around Chamberlain's Rest. I took the flight training so I could have access to my sidewinder. Took the sidewinder for a couple short trips around the outside of the station, just to get familiar with flying it, came back and auto-landed no problems. I was feeling pretty good after that, so I figured I'd take a easy transportation mission from the 'Mission Board' at one of the kiosks.

I accepted the mission, went to the elevator to go to my Hangar, and BAM! No ship!!???? what??!!!!!!!!

Also, I cannot find a place to read the mission, or to abandon the mission. The only mention of the mission I accepted that I can find anywhere is on the system or galactic map, under 'My active missions' it show the Title of the mission I accepted when I look at the correct system for that mission, but that's all. Even the 'Navigation' window on the Insight Hub shows no mention of it. Then I look at the "Stored Ships" for that system, it shows zero, as previously it showed 1.

I'm wondering if there is some link between accepting the mission and my ship disappearing, this is why I'm trying to abandon the mission.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

There we are, the solution to about 90% of all problems with anything involving software.

Glad it's fixed for you OP. :)

One bit of advice that I would give you, as you are new, is to try/click/activate everything in your ship's interface.
If you can focus on one option, then click on it and see if it does anything, or if it opens another submenu.
So many times we find ourselves wondering (even in frustration) whether something is possible, only to realise, after being shown on the forums/YT/etc. that the button has always been under our nose, but we ignored it!

Don't be shy: click on everything!

If anything bad happens, you're in a sidewinder, so you have nothing to lose! 😉

Your mission, should you decide to accept it. is to find the missing Sidewinder

Oh, wait, wrong thread.......

Thanks all for the warm welcome! I really appreciate it, and will continue to appreciate as I'll no doubt we peppering you all with NOOD-like questions.

So far I'm enjoying the game, even with the bugs... its still far less bugs and aggravation as that OTHER game that's similar to this one.

Thanks again!

Cheers!

Right, yours truly is one of these ;) Try silent running before educating yourself what it does... Luckily we are not in a Sidewinder or any other tincan in outer space but safely at home, credits aren't real money and every tragedy in game is its own comedy. Better advice I'd say to an unknown new player is to go through the menus and look up everything that's not immediately obvious in the Wiki.

Speaking of finding things in the Wiki ....... guess what I found today..... (keeping in mind that I'm only 3 days into E:D) .....

There's a freakin' MOON BUGGY BUILT RIGHT INTO THE SIDEWINDER !!!! HOLY COW this is cool!!!!

You got to get an alarm for your sidewinder if you play odyssey, there a lot of grand theft ship players.

The guy who lost a beluga still cries at the station lobby.

Very good, you overcame your first adversarial encounter, now listen very carefully, you can get a free Anaconda at Hutton Orbital.

You’re going hear all sorts of peeple telling you that yes there isn’t and yes there is. Even Google will tell you there’s no free Anaconda.

That’s part of the test, to see if you’re willing to undertake the trip and commit to the cause.

Good luck. 🤥

OK, some questions here on the last two posts.....

1. Jacko...... You mentioned grand theft ship in this game.... WHAT??? You're telling me my ship can be stolen????? WTH??? And your also telling me that you cannot get it back?

How does a ship get stolen?
There's no ship insurance in this game?
Where do I get this alarm you mentioned for my ship??

2. rrobes ..... Free Anaconda!!!!??? I'm in!!! Where is this Hutton Orbital, and what cause do I have to sell my soul for?

Were you playing SC before you came to ED? From what I've heard the ED official forum is a lot friendlier than the SC one (I say I've heard as I've had no experience with SC or its forum)

Yup, that's what I was playing. Yea, the forum here is great! I didn't use the SC forum, other than when it came up in a Google search. but that's not really USING it.

He’s pulling your leg. Neither of these things are true.
