Accidental fire

Accidental fire has never been broken and therefore there is nothing to fix.

They have made it so the odd stray shot doesn't make you instantly hostile but it is up to you to not shoot friendlies (unless you want to). If you use very powerful weapons your risk is greater because if the damage you do.

Learn when to stop firing and be aware of your surroundings.

Once again the bogus argument about being trigger happy (a.k.a "I'm so manly and hard I know how to control my weapon"). Unless one is blessed with psychic powers, it's a little difficult to predict when an NPC will fly straight into your line of fire.

I agree that a lot of it does come over like that. However, when I do it I blame myself not the system. I should have better reflexes. I don't so there you go, accidents happen. (If this was real I doubt I'd be allowed to fly a spaceship in the first place tbh.)

If you shot my car with me driving it while trying to shoot someone who just robbed you, I'd be getting the cops onto you too. Nothing to fix imo.

The police wouldn't hunt me down and kill me though. Still think fines would be better than bounty. Unless you do actual damage.

... But not difficult to predict when they might do so. You do, after all, have them on your scanner. If you keep firing on the assumption they will not change direction, but they do and you hit them, that is still your fault.

so not true.. if thereis gunfir lets say between the cops and a robber an i jump in the middle and got shot i can´t blame the cops nor the robber for it..

Target clean before you start

If you target a ship and shoot it - you will be wanted
If you hit a ship without shields you will be wanted
If you repeatedly hit a ship you will be wanted
If you use a big weapon and cause significant damage to shields or hull - you will be wanted

I can accidentally bump into you, inside a station, several times, until you're dead.

I swear it was by accident, my throttle was not working properly.

The FF mechanic works pretty well, the one tweak I would like is for a differentiation between ships that are actively hostile, i.e. shooting at you, and those that are passively hostile, i.e belong to a enemy faction but not actively shooting at you. Make the former purple in the HUD or something like that, and stop turrets from auto firing on them.

It would also be nice if the fuzz didn't set you as priority number one for the slightest infraction, but I can live with that if need be.

I'm sure this has been discussed a bazillion times but here are my thoughts:

- A small threshold while you're targeting a 'Wanted' ship
- Consideration if that wanted ship has been in the centre of your targets with your trigger finger down for the last few seconds
- Consideration as to whether you were tracking a clean ship or not (i.e. In the centre of your target again)
- Consideration of the number of how may clean ships are in battle (Sometimes a RES can be pretty packed out with Fed Ships & you really have to weave to get a clean shot)
- Perhaps even the cops could give you a couple of verbal warnings & your heat signatre could have a 'warning' in say amber which times out depending on your infraction

Anyway, just a few thoughts.
