Accolade for getting to Sag 'A'

Yeah! Happy days.

For some reason the only photo I could find of mine is from when I stuck it on a blackboard in a bar in Edinburgh.

You have voluntarily endured one of the most boring activities in gaming but want an award to make you feel special? Please.

Oh dear, I have to defend that ... you may not be aware but these "bumper stickers" were handed out by ElectricZ (the creator of Buckyball Racing) for completing the Sagitarrius A* challenge.

The original thread for this is here ..

When ElectricZ steppped down from running this (and other) Buckyball events the Buckyball Racing Club was born and a new thread created to take over the Sagittarius A* challenge ..

I can honestly say that my own attempt at the race (a mediocre 15h22m run) was one of the greatest and most exciting gaming experiences of my life.

To see these runs in another light, and maybe get a sense of what competing in the Sag A* challenge was like, can I recommend the fantastic series of 4 videos created by Cmd Alot (the current unmodified record holder).

Well for doing something as insane as what myself and many others have done, something would be nice to remember it by

It was only insane the first time it was done, like climbing Mount Everest, afterwards it's just another tourist attraction covered in paper, rotten food and badly buried tourist crap, although I guess in the case of Sag A you could just toss it into the black hole!

With the 60+ LY jump ranges available in game today it's nowhere close to being called "insane". It's trivial compared to doing it before engineers.

I'm about 5,000 LY away in my non-Engineered AspX. Hoping to get there this weekend before I go...elsewhere.

I personally don't expect or want an accolade...I'm doing this for myself. Although the 10MCR you apparently get for scanning it will be nice.

Unless it's changed recently you are going to be disappointed. It's more like 635k

More generally, though, Frontier are not ones for Accolades/Trophies/Achievements/whatever. The PC client doesn't have them in general, bar your pilot status, of course.

Microsoft insist all games have specific Achievements as part of certification, and I believe Sony do as well, so they get them. But there are none for Steam, where they're optional.
