Account copy and migration to pc

And let's say it again, you didn't need a PC to do the transfer, you can do the transfer and it will just sit there until you get a PC and log into your FDEV account. This was stated and restated multiple times both before and during the first transfer period. You do NOT need and never needed a PC to do the transfer to PC.
Yep, I got that. I just missed the boat and am now paying the price. I didn't know if I could justify the cost and space to move across at the time, hence the hesitation. I finally bit the bullet and have a gaming pc now, so it's just hurry up and wait in the hope that FDev open up the channel for me to move my profile sooner rather than later.

Please tell me what computer configuration you have assembled to play ED. And what are your impressions, is the gaming skills very different from the PS4? Is it difficult to learn again?
Hi,
I purchased an HP Omen 25L with AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics 3.80 GHz 16Mb DDR4 RAM and 2 Hard drives (1TB each, one SSD, one not.)
My very old PC couldn't cope, but this one is very capable.
The PS4 controller has a few minor differences but the software easily accepted the use of it. I think an XBOX controller would be better as the software seems geared up to that rather than the PS4, but once I deciphered the button numbers it is fine.
I do prefer a controller over the joystick, even though the joystick is a good one. It is just just more intuitive.
Hope that helps and roll on the profile transfer window in April. I'm getting excited now !!!

I used to be PS4 but made the transfer in Sept, then got on GeforceNow in October just to see it and was amazed it ran on 2015 laptop.
I bought Sheild TV and use my DS4 controller (all required keys now mapped) in lounge with just the controller and TV - Sheild is silent and is tucked out of the way.
I really couldn't stand having a PC, table, chair, keyboard, mouse and controller (with HDMI cable to TV instead of small monitor) - nah nah nah.

Do the deed when it is available, even if you don't have a suitable PC YET!

Like I said above, I play in my lounge with just DS4 controller on TV.
NVidia Shield TV Pro (£179) is tucked away, with wired Ethernet, HDMI, mouse and keyboard connected for some unmapped commands. Otherwise all frequently used buttons on DS4 are mapped and settings saved on cloud on GeforceNow.

NOTE, If they dont transfer FC's, if you have one, you may need to decommission it (takes about 1 week?) first, to get the funds back before doing the transfer (around 5.5Billion) and have those funds on PC CMDR to buy new FC there. (I have 3 FC's now - 1 on PS, 1 on PC Legacy and 1 on PC Live!)

NOTE2 I also went away to a wedding for a weekend and took Shield TV with me - worked fine in the hotel room with just wireless and HDMI cable to TV!!!
Woooooooo Hooooooo I nearly missed the wedding!!!!!!!!!!!
Also took my laptop in case, but never needed it!!!

Hoping to see you lot in the Live Galaxy SOON!!!!

Dude, that is bizarre. Have you tried a proper hotas set up or twin sticks? I couldn't play with a controller and don't get me wrong, every other game I play on controller. The amount of buttons needed for this just makes a controller so awkward. Got the hots x on Xbox and it was a game changer, since got the VKB Gladiator in twin sticks and i could never go back. so much fun to use. Although the throttle in star citizen is far too twitchy. But that's star citizen all round. haha

Mate, I know! I purchased a Raptor Mach 1 with separate throttle just for this game. I just don't get on with the hands on flying experience at all! It feels worse than a C130 (my old office) where you stick in a turn or level off and then have to wait for the aircraft to do it's thing. I maybe missing something but the whole thing just feels really sloppy. So unless I can work out a way to improve the feel and reactions of the Raptor I will stick with the PS4 controller for now. I'm using the Raptor Mach 1 for Microsoft Flight Sim and it works a lot better with that, so it's not a total waste of money.

Live Galaxy!!!!
Commander, please tell me in more detail what kind of device you play with and what kind of remote control you use, this is the first time I hear that you can play games like ED on the road.

It's Geforce Now, a cloud gaming service on a subscription model. All you need is a reasonable internet connection and a device to run the Geforce Now client software. I think there's only a few hundred games supported on the platform, but Elite is one of them. You need to own the game already, all Nvidia are doing is providing a platform.

You could use a low-end laptop to run the client software and play, but Spaceman-FXL5 also bought Nvidia's own little box, the "Shield TV", to avoid having to set up a laptop/PC near his TV. I did the same, haven't had to check out the controller support, I'm just using my old PS4 DualShock.

I'm sounding like an advertorial - I was just glad there was a reasonably-priced route to the Live galaxy after the console split, since there's no way I'm building a gaming rig. There's downsides of course - a clean cloud VM is given to you each time you launch the game, so you can't do any local config file modifications, and you always have to go through the 1 minute of planet generation on launch which would only normally happen after install or hardware change. And it assumes all controllers are XBox controllers, so I've had to remap a couple of buttons and my DS4 doesn't rumble. And sometimes the Nvidia platform itself has problems - I've been using it for the last 4 months, and in that time there have been two outages of about 4 hours each, where I couldn't launch the game (one was some sort of infrastructure issue at Nvidia's end, and the other looked like an update to the Steam client caused a launch crash). And of course if Nvidia ever decide to pull the game from their stable, or jack up the monthly price, then that's that.

MAYBE something to keep a few of you "grass is greener" players around JUST a bit longer...
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/legacy-cg.615524/page-2

It's seems in "blink and you'll miss it" fashion, at least one (recycled) CG has come back to "legacy" mode and hopefully it'll brings a few friends! 😯😀🤘🤞 ...

(Although it's strange that there hasn't been a proper announcement about legacy CGs returning, at least not yet! 🤔😯😀🤘.)

2 Options away from home:

1) Old laptop using WiFi - I have ED on Epic and my old 2015 laptop will not run ED at all (even Legacy 3.8!), so I subscribe to NVidia Geforce Now £8.99/month (to avoid queuing up for a rig) and ED runs on Nvidia's own Virtual Server Farm giving you a high-end GPU and streams the game to your laptop.
HDMI cable from laptop to Hotel TV if you want.
My Laptop wont recognize wireless PS4 DS4 so have to connect DS4 by USB :mad:

2) I bought NVidia Shield TV Pro for £179, which just runs cloud gaming/streaming itself, instead of through the laptop!
Shield TV box is small, about 100mm x 150mm x 25mm and so laptop, cables, DS4 controller, mouse and keyboard and this, all fit in any laptop bag.
Hotel WiFi, HDMI cable to Hotel TV (I also take and connect a mouse and keyboard as some ED commands are not mapped to DS4 controller).
Shield TV recognizes wireless Playstation4 DS4 controller , so this is the setup I use now.

In Hotel I found it does stutter a little, but it depends mostly on the ping, so most hotels now (in UK at least) have decent free WiFi and in some you can even purchase wired Ethernet in the rooms.

I do not work for NVidia either, even though this looks like an advert, but I would highly recommend it at home even, as it is very compact and powerful.
It also has all streaming apps - Netflix, Prime, Apple, etc.
Better than a PC, Table, Chair, Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard, Joystick, etc, etc.
I just have Shield TV, mouse and keyboard tucked away next to TV, and play with just PS4 DS4 wireless controller lounging on settee.

Fired up my PS last night and will be checking out for the next few days. Went to HIP 19091 and 19198 and got Hyperdicted in non AX DBX explorer EEEEK!.

Will have to set up new AX ships on PS4!
17 weeks war getting a little burnt out on Live.

My only issue with this, is they said they wanted to have people moved over before the next big patch. If I'm not mistaken, that is on the 4th of April. The transfer process takes a few days also, so I hear. They really are cutting it close if that is the case
Took me 5 minutes to complete the transfer from entering SUBMIT button at last transfer.

Is there any way of getting an email notification when/if the new transfer window ever opens?

I can't check the damn page every day.

This is really sad, as if console users have been thrown to the dogs -- granted I should have transferred earlier but I had other stuff going on at the time...

@BaronSamedi7
You should already be getting emails every 2 -3 weeks... if your not getting emails to the registered account address then you need to contact support to get your email address re-enabled...
Having the email address of the fdev account paired to console account should be monitored is needed for password and account recovery... This is independent to any forum contact and use...
This should have been happening already since you created the Fdev account... this way they get to show you every 2-3 weeks all the EDO content on PC...
https://customersupport.frontier.co.uk/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=1900000216714
Ask them to re add you to the Elite email list...
They sent emails last Septembers telling people it was live... the title of the email was

Elite Dangerous: Console Copy Portal opens tomorrow!

Same details C&P from the same places you pasted...
Same as Xbox users topic as well last year everybody should have got the email...

Hi folks,
well I saw that the transfer page is now open again and I went through the procedure to transfer my PS4 account over to the PC and it worked...until I came to the part where I had to log into the ED launcher to choose my free copy of the game (which is - as it was said - included into the transfer from console to PC). No matter what I do, it always says I have to first buy the game before I can log in...
So, how to proceed now and to get and install the game to complete the transfer?

Thanks!

Are you using the standalone launcher or are you attempting to login from Steam or Epic?

If you use neither Steam nor Epic, download the frontier standalone launcher from https://www.frontierstore.net/downloadable/customer/products/ (requires login) and use that one instead.

Otherwise, verify that your account is linked to either on the account management page here: https://www.frontierstore.net/frontier_partnerkeys/thirdparty/ (reqires login) and if it isn't, follow the steps outlined here: https://customersupport.frontier.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/4404175514514- (for either Steam or Epic)

I am using the Frontier launcher because that was the given info on the page explaining the transfer process...

So, nobody any idea?
The linking from brand NEW account to verified in launcher account after putting in the verification codes from the email into the launcher always took a long time with FDEV direct....
You were also required to close, the fdev web page launcher app on PC non styeam and non epic accounts and reboot the launcher untill the account stopped needing you to login and instead you had to select which down load you wanted...

The crappy web browser launcher app was allways infamous for slow verification of account status and even slower download and installs as it triggers Microsoft anti malware checks...
PC users in the PC forum have had to deal with that web browser installer app for years will failures... Steam and epic account versions require those stores to verify the account status and have been way better than fdev direct in recent years...
your a PC user now so you can have all of the PC issues...
