Account copy and migration to pc

your a PC user now so you can have all of the PC issues...
Well, I was actually quite pxxxd when Frontier, after all the announcements that Odysse will bring the game to a whole new level etc. and that on both PC and consoles, pulled the plug on the latter. There's a reason I play such games on consoles and the new consoles are powerful enough to play the games on very high settings so to say. I usually play only strategy/wargames on PC.
So I think, I won't bother anymore with ED, since it's ridiculous that they are not able to keep it running on consoles as well. I'll play No Man's Sky on the PS5 instead, sure not the same style as ED but at least it is supported on all platforms and I can sit down with a beer in the evening and actually start playing instead of fumbling around with Frontiers transfer issues and crappy launcher.
It was fun while it lasted is the saying I think...
Thanks for your reply.

Weird, i didnt had any issues back in last September when i migrated from XB to PC.
No issues whatsoever downloading the launcher, installing the game and logging in with the new account i created for the PC migration 🤷‍♂️

Hi,
I purchased an HP Omen 25L with AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics 3.80 GHz 16Mb DDR4 RAM and 2 Hard drives (1TB each, one SSD, one not.)
My very old PC couldn't cope, but this one is very capable.
The PS4 controller has a few minor differences but the software easily accepted the use of it. I think an XBOX controller would be better as the software seems geared up to that rather than the PS4, but once I deciphered the button numbers it is fine.
I do prefer a controller over the joystick, even though the joystick is a good one. It is just just more intuitive.
Hope that helps and roll on the profile transfer window in April. I'm getting excited now !!!
Just an update.... Having now moved my PS4 profile over to PC.
I had a Steam Account already and have been getting used to using Odyssey, with a steam purchased copy and using my PS4 controller. The controller read across across was 90% plus and I was pretty happy. I moved my profile across from PS4 as I have years of experience on there, vs 3 weeks worth on my PC account, expecting a similar experience. I was wrong!
As I already had a Steam copy I deleted my pc profile player to enable me to take the character name. This failed during the process, so I chose a new name (Cmdr Dino Von H'Man) and set myself up with an FDev free download to ensure the transfer happened ok. Once I had it up and running I selected PS4 + Yaw controls across the board and had a go. On the ground it seemed ok and no surprises initially, but when I completed the intro phase and jumped into my own ship everything has fallen apart.
The so called PS4 settings are nothing like the Playstation controls, with only single button functions seeming to work and most in the wrong places. On PS4 for instance, holding the Square and right R1 button simultaneously performs a function, but even though I have customised the keys to match the PS4 as best as I can the action of doing the double button press does not only the requested function, but another function also (as prescribed by the single button option).
I decided therefore to copy my profile across to Steam from FDev Launcher, which I did successfully, but this has made no difference to the control functions as Steam appears to now be an intermediary, rather that proprietor of the software.
Is there a way that I can get my PS4 controller to act the same as it would if I was using my Steam driven version?

Only by Manualy setting every thing manualy up as before... and you have to do it for all 4 sections.
"CONTEXT MENU "commands need to be enabled... These allows the POPUP hold menus...
You may also need to disable Steams controller over rides in the steam config... Turning off controllers... As having both Xinput and Direct input controllers enabled can emulate 2 controllers from one to Fdev software...
Leaving Dual shock off and only leaving XBOX controller on in steam results in the DS4 being seen as a Xbox controller and having much more Presets to pick from in fdevs controlls options...
Steam users get controller emulation choices... epic and fdev direct have to build up to date Remaps all by them selves for DS4...

If you had a Dual semse or Xbox series X controller its even worse as there are No button mapping presets at all for these...

open steam library right click elite dangerous, properties, controller, controller general settings , enable PlayStation configuration support.

also enable steam input (open steam library, right click elite dangerous, properties, controller)

may have to change few things manually but what has worked best so far for me.
