Across the galaxy in a Sidewinder

Well done R4! Good luck on your journey back. I did plan on meeting up with you, but I've made a detour and am now heading for the opposite rim to SOL.

Nice R4, if you need to, or feel unsafe, i will gladly escort you the last jumps to civilisation in my Anaconda. (Although that is long to :p)
For the damn glory!

This is a good idea, also make sure to cash in as soon as you see your first port

For the damn glory! Congratulations on your achievement, I look forward to following your journey back home.

Maybe you'll be able to upgrade that Sidewinder then! ;)

Great work... one more question though, "Are there any colonies out there?"

None that I could tell. But then again, I wasn't looking very closely.

That would be very cool.

Thank you guys for all of the kind words. o7

Have some more rep! Way to prove you don't need no big fancy exploration ship to go see the galaxy!

For your next trick, do it in a Vulture. ;)

Grats on a great accomplishment r4! There's a drink waiting for you in the bar at Jameson Memorial when you get home.

Hope you don't mind R4, but I've submitted this historic event to Michael Brookes' GalNet news. Hopefully it'll make the news as player created events deserve a mention in the game lore (especially events that are out of the ordinary, which yours certainly is!) :)

January 7th 3301 - March 26th 3301

Galactic crossing in a Sidewinder, a success!

Reports are reaching Federation listening posts that CMDR R4nger0 has successfully crossed the galaxy in one of the smallest starships currently available.

CMDR R4nger0 departed the frontier in his Siderwinder, Sneaky Pete, 11 weeks ago on January 7th. His mission was two-fold.. firstly to test the endurance of the Sidewinder class starship, and secondly for sheer Federation glory!

Along the way R4 passed through 5,000 star systems before finally reaching the far side of the Scutum-Centaurus arm, some 58,700 LYs from home. His 21LY jump range Sidewinder was unable to cross the Abyss (a 2,000 LY void leading out to the galactic rim), so R4 reported his final reachable system as being CHUA EOP ZC-T C20-0.

R4 conducted a full survey of the system and planted the Federation flag before beginning the arduous journey home.

When R4 finally returns to the outer frontier of colonized space it is planned that a task-force wing will be assembled to help escort the intrepid explorer (and the wealth of stellar data his Sidewinders databank holds) into a Federal starport for a mission debrief and a well earned crate of Lavian Brandy.

Nice write up Erimus

Yeah i've actually passed systems you have scanned :) I've since scanned quite a few myself but furthest i've been out is 1k ly. Congratulation, thats some achievement.

Well done, a very respectable accomplishment. I hope your hull integrity doesn't fail and all the screws just fall out on your way home. Brookes, please get this on Galnet!!
