Just a random idea I had after walking past a quarry near where I live.
You all know what a quarry is, so basically, add some absolutely huge quarries to the game. And I mean huge, bigger than the Thargoid structures type huge.
Really deep, big flood lights, loads of huge machinery, active landing pads where you'll see juicy freighters taking off and landing with particularly nice cargo.
You can also land and trade here.
Or you can take your SRV down in to the quarry (either normally, or just jump right off the edge. Lol), and look for materials in the pit.
Then you'd need to climb out again. Recalling your ship will land it on one of the lads at the top.
Also, abandoned quarries. More or less the same, but no working landing pads, no lighting, no working machinery. But you can recall your ship directly inside.
But fun to navigate around, and find rare materials.
And could quite obviously be used as a race track.
The Thargoid structure shows we can have "tunnels" in ED. So it'd be cool if these quarries also had mine shafts to drive down.
Active mine shafts are well kept, level and spacious, sign posted, well lit, and with good material deposits.
Abandoned mine shafts are dangerous, unlit, can have dead ends, pits you can fall in to and get stuck, collapsed sections, broken or incorrect signage, but the deeper you go, the better and more rare materials you will find.
These would ideally be places like the ruins. More or less visible from space.
Thoughts?
