Cutter would make a great deep space miner. It can fit everything it needs except an srv. That is, unless you want to give up 256t of cargo, or a class 5 collector limpet. Adding a class 1 optional to the cutter won't mess with balancing too much, but it will allow you to place your surface scanner in there, opening up a slot for an srv without compromising one of the c5+ slots.
