Add an autopilot; supercruise flying is boring in ED and just another form of GRIND

Any update. Did we get auto speed or auto navigation options for super cruise ??? I want to play again ED, but I cannot stand wasting time in SC while I could be reading while the ship reaches destination....similar to commercial planes

Imagine how much he'd cry if he stuck his auto pilot on went to watch a video and got interdicted and killed...

"Must be a bug with the game I tell you! Autopilot should save me from everything so I can watch Netflix and it didn't! I'm leaving the game, I want my money back!" Etc

Shouldn't that read; is there an autopilot, because I don't want to play ED..?

If you wanna fly without paying any attention, you need a few things;
1) A key binding for 75% throttle.
2) Point your ship at your destination.
3) Plenty of cash for rebuys.
4) The Ability to not complain about being destroyed on route.

But... but... isn't one of the funniest things in EVE destroying player ships that AFK autopilot from gate to gate? Getting the ability to do that in ED too would be awesome, wouldn't it?

I personally think we should be permitted mini-jumps of set amounts, like 50,000Ls and 100,000Ls. That would alleviate much of the boredom time.

As for watching for possible interdictors, the NPCs don't work by the same rules we have do. No behind the target and within 300Ls for them. You can be interdicted from any where at anytime with no limits. There is no "watching for interdictors."

I agree that SC is both not engaging enough to be fun considering the amount of time spent doing it, but also manages to require just enough of your attention that you can't do something else while you wait to arrive. It really is the worst of both worlds.

There is no fixed interdiction range. You can definitely watch for interdictors, but you do need to understand the basics of ED.

Is there a way to plot a multi jump route , without the need of doing pointing the ship in the righ direction in each system to jump to the following one. It's a bit tedious.

I think that considering how often one needs to stop to scoop fuel... an autopilot might be of somewhat limited value unless you are doing fairly limited routes. Unless ofcourse the autopilot could do that too, which might be asking a bit much.

It would be useless really... hyperspacing only gets a bit dull after 10+ jumps really. Lol

If we got a basic Hyperspace autopilot, i wonder how long it will take before people demand a supercruise autopilot. Then a planetary landing autopilot. Then a Fuel scooping autopilot. Then a combat autopilot.

Then complain the game does too much for them and it's pointless. :p

I now want an autopilot fuel scoop to be a thing just so i can watch it glitch on players and send them crashing into the sun. The docking autopilot doesnt work all the time so itd definitely happen

Just sickens me... why even play?

Sickens you? Buddy, crack open a beer and relax. Pointing the ship at the target star is one of the most basic things you can do in this game. I realise the top guns on this forum insist we must have 100% manual flight just like back in the 1920's, that doesn't make it unreasonable for someone to request the more mundane aspects of flight have some automation.

I'm sure it would make the game so much better... we should just remove all the "tasks", just go from login to end game with a single click of the mouse.

I know that sounds mega troll at first, but the flying mechanic in ED is just an additional "grind" imho.

Interdiction is fun, because you actually have to move the joystick around and pay same attention to the game, same with docking, but supercruise is a bore. in FFE you were able to skip that boring part through the autopilot (and read the journals instead), but in ED you can't. Why not?

It's not complicated in the slightest: Bind "75% stop" action to a key, point to a direction, press W until you are 7 seconds away from the target. Press 75% key.

All the while you stare at a mostly dark screen and don't even move the joystick or have to concentrate or think in any form. It's not "skill" or exciting or whatever. It's only an additional robot-like grind mechanic (press w, look at "7 seconds", press key). The only "excitement" is when you forget to press the "75%" button because the scene on netflix was interesting.. "oh, now I have to repeat the pointing and w pressing again but this time I need to press the button" zzzz...

I think the travel time is important overall because space is big, but I really can't imagine that spaceships will be "flown" during FTL travel as they are in ED. Some form of autopilot would be useful and imo would add to the immersion. You don't see Han and Chewie nudging the sticks during hyperspace, they just chill out. It's only when something happens that it's all hands on deck.

An auto pilot and then it automatically throttles down to zero at the perfect time to fuel scoop...

(Ducks 2 or 3 times then runs off stage)
