Add "Toggle" option to the moving forward on foot control binding

I appreciate that the on-foot controls are basically a FPS selection - however, it is really crazy that we have to keep holding down the "W" key (in my case) to walk (walk/jog/sprint) anywhere.

Yes I know that lots of pew-pew peeps will probably use a game controller to move on foot but what about the rest of us.

Please add the TOGGLE/HOLD option to the move forward control assignment (not worried about the move backward one lol).

EDITED TO REMOVE MENTION OF STICKY KEYS WARNING!

Have you tried turning off the Sticky Keys Shortcut?

I don't use Sticky Keys - it is just that the stupid windows every so often throws a pop-up asking if I want to enable Sticky Keys 'cos I am sat there with the "W" key held down for minutes at a time.

Other games let you press say "K" (in NMS) to toggle walking on and off - this game's on-foot seems to have been put together with the assumption that you are always going to be doing FPS combat (jogging is the default movement. etc...).

You should be able to turn off the thing that throws the popup asking if you want to turn sticky keys on. Though it's supposed to be Shift that activates it, not W.

You miss my point - it is the fact that a key is held down for some time that windows asks if you want to turn on sticky keys - yes if you hit shift 5 times that turns on sticky keys IF you have it enabled (I don't).

It's never come up for me, ever, even though I do a lot of walking around on planetary surfaces, so there must be something with the way your settings are in windows that cause it to come up.

Just had a quick look, if you go into accessibility options and manually turn off sticky keys that should stop the popup from coming up. You must have sticky keys turned on, so of course windows asks you if you want to activate sticky keys when you hold a key down.

As I said in post #7 I do not have it enabled so I don't know why it decides every so often (seems random) to ask.

Anywayup - my suggestion is to request that I can set the move forward key as a toggle - the sticky keys prompt is just an annoying side-effect.

There's this also, it's apparently not good enough just to turn off sticky keys, the popup is controlled by a separate dialog;

Thanks for taking the trouble to post that link, as I said it is disabled - the control panel method (as per that link) shows:

The sticky keys notice is not important - This suggestion is purely about having a toggle option for moving forward. (I wish now that I had not mentioned the sticky keys notice. LOL )

The thing is, we can provide help, as useless as it is, for a sticky keys problem, the toggle to move forward not so much, that's pretty much out of our control! (y)

I think something else is going on. Sticky Keys are supposed to only apply to modifier keys like Shift/Ctrl/Alt so it should have nothing to do with standard keys like W. 🤷‍♂️
I seem to remember some "helpful" prompt about Accessibility coming up when I held down any letter key for about 5 seconds... not even in a game at the time. I soon turned that rubbish off.

Auto-move would be a nice QOL improvement. We can set that for our ships, fighters, and SRV's at whatever speed we choose. Giving us two auto-move speeds on foot (walk/run) makes sense.

I play on-foot content with mouse and Logitech G13. I use the stick for movement, mouse for turn/aim/fire. My thumb, and the G13 stick, could really benefit from this idea.

Are you sure you're not spamming the left shift key to get running again, that brings up a sticky key prompt on my system.

The default action for bringing up the sticky key prompt is in fact 5 consecutive presses on the shift key, it does exactly that on my system as well, so 5 presses with no other action will activate that popup, however it has never, and I do mean never, popped up while I am in game, so there must be some odd setting in the OP's keybinds or keyboard settings that is causing it. Since we don't have access to those we are essentially guessing.
