I like the new behaviours and animations JWE2 introduced, though I think that some things are still missing and not quite how they should be. Especially some behaviours that involve a group/herd are sorely missed, like for example herd defence and most importantly more interactions. Here are a few suggestions that would make the game considerably better and more fun.
Behaviours:
AI:
Specific/special animations:
Why is that not in the game? It would be amazing if that exact animation could be added to the game. The rivalry between these two was one of the main aspects in Dominion after all, so it should be transferred and emphasized more in JWE2.
The special social interaction between the Indominus Rex and the Velociraptors is an excellent example. Adding more content like that is what everyone would love I'm sure. Especially for the marine and flying reptiles, which are quite lacking in that regard.
Behaviours:
- More interactions between different species. This addition would really make the animals feel so much more alive and interesting. Like for example Compsognathus cleaning the teeth of large carnivores (like the Moros does in the JW Dominion Prologue). Or large carnivores exchanging some threats and shouts with certain herbivores, without getting in a fight/hunt (like in that one particular scene in the Dominion Prologue just before the Giganotosaurus vs. T. Rex fight, when the Iguanodon left the scene after a gurgling noise made by the Giganotosaurus to chase it away). I would love to see these kinds of interspecies animations.
- While we are at interactions, the flying reptiles and marine reptiles need them badly. They don't have any social interactions at all. Like for example playful fighting/chasing, demeanour of dominance, intimidation, pterosaurs preening each other etc. This would make them feel considerably more unique and alive.
- Herd defence. Some herbivores that live in herds (like ceratopsians etc.) should be able to defend together against attacking carnivores.
- Defending and fighting animations for large sauropods. This really needs to be added. Large sauropods should be able to kick and hit with their tails to fend all attacking carnivores off, not only the pack hunters, but also larger ones. Also some species like Dilophosaurus and especially Proceratosaurus shouldn't be able to attack and kill them, since it's outright ridiculous and just wrong (they shouldn't even be pack hunters in the first place).
- If there are any carcasses or other sources of food around, then carnivores really shouldn't hunt at all. It just doesn't make sense. Should be easy to implement.
- Lurking and ambush behaviours for carnivores.
AI:
- Improved, actual herding. The AI should make them stay together more frequently (or more appropriately, let's say). Some herbivores get too far away from their own group sometimes and then start to feel lonely.
- Pack hunters should behave more rational and realistic. If one or two pack members die during a pack hunt, they should give up and stop hunting. They also shouldn't attack anything, or at least strong/large opponents, as long as they are satisfied and full.
- Give Quetzalcoatlus its own AI. It really feels like an oversized Pteranodon reskin at the moment. It should spend most of the time on ground, not in the air. In this context it also urgently needs walking animations, to make it move on the ground, at least to some extent. (Though the other Pterosaurs also need this, but not that much).
Specific/special animations:
- The above-mentioned teeth cleaning animations for tiny carnivores like Compsognathus and Moros once it gets added (cleaning the teeth of the largest carnivores like T. Rex, Acrocanthosaurus, Giganotosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus, and Spinosaurus with the exception of hybrids like Indominus)
- The specific head-butting animation between T. Rex and Giganotosaurs and the consequent fighting animation, as seen in the Dominion Prologue. The head-butt was even shown in Frontier's own trailer for the Biosyn DLC.
Why is that not in the game? It would be amazing if that exact animation could be added to the game. The rivalry between these two was one of the main aspects in Dominion after all, so it should be transferred and emphasized more in JWE2.
