I'll put my vote behind this one. I have been running an EVGA 2Gb equivalent for months at 1920x1200 with ultra settings and it is a great little card for the money. Framerate on planets was a little low but it was easily playable. It doesn't even need external power connectors!
I personally wouldn't use ebay as you never know what you are going to get and I would be gutted to spend even £100 and end up with a card that won't do the job.
Kind've what happened to me with an AMD r9 270 that I bought from Amazon Warehouse deals last year. The AMD based system that I built this time was a real pig to get up & running, not least because I had to buy an elderly APU to update the BIOS on my FM2 socketed motherboard to allow it to run a processor that it specifically stated it was compatible with! But anyways, by the time I had sorted that problem out & realised I had a dud card it was too late to return it. I then went out & bought a cheap graphics card (a vanilla 750) just so I could get the system to run & do some gaming.
It has constantly surprised me ever since. Being able to fire along on all cylinders with GTA V & now ED horizons too. I am looking for a decent replacement & of the same mind as you, holding off till either Nvidia or AMD come out with something new. By which time I might well be doing yet another build to go with it!
