Horizons Advice on Python build

Personally I would replace the Burst Laser with another Multicannon, and swap the docking computer for a Detailed Surface Scanner. You look to be building a Jack of All Trades, if that is the case I'd also step down to a class 5 shield. That way you maximise your cargo space, firepower and exploration potential.
I would also lose the Reinforced Alloy and fly Lightweight until you can afford Military Composite, that way you maximise your range too, and I would consider making the Medium guns into turrets to clean off those pesky Eagles and Sidewinders that will out maneuver you.

My goal is to have a ship to use in CGs, especially hauling and bounty hunting ones. I'll not use that ship for exploration so I don't need a Surface scanner.
For BH, a 5A shield seems to be too small, no ?

You get more money for an unexplored star if you scan it with a detailed surface scanner. Standard practice for me is to drop in, approach until the scoop triggers, target the star to start the scan, then "honk" the Discovery scanner to map the system. I do this at every unexplored star I visit (assuming I'm stopping for fuel). Hauling and bounty hunting, though not mutually exclusive, do require different setups. For an armed merchant man that can take care of itself (and even do a spot of RES work) Size 5 was always fine for me. To make money from bounties, you'll need to fit a Kill Warrant Scanner, scanning the target can double the payout.
This was my J-o-T Pythong build that got me the credits to afford an Anaconda:

Monty

I flew trade CGs and RES hunting with this build, though if you want to do serious bounties then you'll need a specialist ship. THe beauty of the Python is it's a tough, general purpose ship that can haul serious cargo, look after itself and still land on medium pads at outposts.

i recommend a medium burst or medium beam turrett. eagles can get pesky for a python.

if you don't want to engineer it (whyever), i also recommend 1 class 6 scb for combat or 1 class 5 scb for trading missions. with a class 6 scb you also want to run a heatsink.

Here is an updated build following your advices:
https://coriolis.io/outfit/python/0...4022i2f.Iw18eQ==.IwBj4yuGSA==?bn=Python CG v2

I've switch to light alloy, 5A shield + 3 SBs, added surface scanner and modified weapons. I'm not sure about the turret choice: should I go for large turret beams or mediums turret MCs ? And is it usefull to have a point defense or should I switch for KWS ?

- don't do large turrets. there tracking speed won't help against small and nimble targets. especially don't go large beams - they will produce to much heat, don#t hit often and draw your pips empty in no time.

- i would say: point defence is a must with the current npc. for the kws: depends where you are bounty hunting.

- for a combat hunting ship, i would definetly go class 6A/ 6 bi-weave shield.

- don't miss out shieldcellbanks

...

you'll need some basic FAOFF. it flies very different to any dogfighter like vulture, viper, etc.

OK so here is another try:

I don't know which shield is better between normal and bi-weave, any advice ?
I don't want to have a pure combat build, I need an "agressive hauler" to deal with interdictions when doing CGs
I didn't started to look at engineers so I don't plan to upgrade this ship for now.

- shield: for cz/RES bi-weave. for single encounters/trading: a-grade.

- a CG ship? for CGs in open? an unengineered python is no good CG in open ship imho. take a cobra mkIII or a clipper or an orca. python is simply to slow compared to engineered pvp ships. but if, then you want ecm and heatsinks. and the largest scb you can get (class 6) to survive (maybe) till you can highwake. just my opinion.

I don't play in open, I'm in solo or private group. For hauling CG, I need a ship with a good cargo capacity, and the best I have is the Python. And I want to be able to survive NPC interdictions. This is the goal

If you're looking to haul and survive NPC interdictions I'd lose the Vehicle Hangar and put Cargo back in there instead. You can always add a hangar if you chose to do some landings, but for hauling CG's you want to maximise space and survivability. Get back up to 200 tons of cargo space, use turrets on the medium weapons. The beuaty of the Python is it can quickly switch between roles with just one or two module changes.
I'd use this for a hauling CG.

Thanks for your build, I used that during the week-end for LT133 CGs and it worked very well !

If you are going to fly a python you really should at the very least grab some Dirty drives lvl 3, failing that combat is going to be real hard. If your after a haul and brawl frieghter this is what i use on my ship https://coriolis.io/outfit/python/0...8070704044f050537040302002f.Iw18eQ==.Aw18eQ== my build is a heavy engineered one tho with DD5, grade 5 full mutli cannons, reinforced shields and boosters, grade 5 fsd.

I went for a 6a shield until I can down size with a 5a prismatic, all so i have gone for a 7a PP so i can swop what ever i need and not worry about pwr considerations. All in i really like my python but the stock ship kinda sucks even when you A grade it. oh and lose the detailed scanner its not needed, just added one when u need it.

When using laser turrets, In recommend beam lasers. A beam laser turret roughly does the damage of a gimballed pulse laser of the same size.
