AFK Capital ship camping for free money

Fix came in before my Conda was ready for it. Still have the large and huge weapon mounts unoccupied. Well, it had to go, too good to be true. And I also know why smuggling profits don't count towards trading rank prior to the patch: I have quite the smuggling profit from seeking luxuries. Too many people would all of a sudden be almost trading Elite.

Could have just put small turrets in all the slots. The point was to tag the targets for credit, not blow them up yourself (which takes a while even with large turret pulse equiped).
 
I'm glad they fixed it, although not sure about the way they fixed it, even thought it was an inefficient use of time and it's effect was over-stated

in anycase, I hope they'll come up with something a little less.. clunky. Having the cap ship open fire on any friendly within a small radius would be better, after all you're just a ship who decided on a whim to join their side. You could be a suicide bomber in disguise.

The ideal would be to prevent cap ship camping but not make fighting for the side of the cap ship less attractive than trying to fight against it.
 
Pretty stupid "fix"

Now people will actively avoid capital ship zones. I did a ton of camping in Lugh and haven't since then, but I did check out the imperial cap zone. It was cool to see the ship but I won't be sticking around these areas just to have my kills stolen by an NPC with super guns. I seems like FD didn't know how to fix camping so just implemented a really dumb solution.

I completely agree with you. It's almost impossible to get the last hit now, when you're competing with a ship firing over 5 lasers + broad cannons on a target.
 
Just give each ship a list (source, damage) - it could even be a circular buffer that just contains the last 256 hits or something like that. That would surely be good enough to determine who gets paid, no?
 
Combat Zone with Capital Ships are less fun now; isn't there a better solution?

Ok, I get it. Sitting on a Capital ship shooting with turrets was bad (nevermind anyone who wanted to do it already has done and so don't need to any more anyways). But you may as well have removed Capital ships from the game entirely as flying with one now stealing 90% of your kills is extremely frustrating. Combat Zones with Capital ships used to be fun. Now they aren't; in fact they are worse than not fun, they are rage inducing! It really was so neat to have a Cap ship jump in and help out, and I miss it. My two cents anyways.
 
On the flip side getting a wing together to drive one off should be easier now they aren't decorated with extra gun turrets all the time. If only that was better rewarded. (Or maybe it is in rep/influence but we haven't noticed yet)

Not sure what the problem is here. They exist to help out, as you said, so if you're in trouble you run toward it and it kills the guys after you (or 90% of them anyway) otherwise you stay away from the capship if you want to avoid it killing your targets.

I think that aspect of capship's and CZ's is working as intended. You just have to change your strategy a bit for its corrected functionality.
 
Ah except the "bad guys" don't know to stay away. So they are near the Capital ship, who only has to touch them last and get the kill. Anyways, I just fly in a zone without one now. But I think its a loss to the fun of the game, and I disagree that it is working as intended.

The problem (well, as I see it) occurs when you are allied with the Capital ship. I didn't really look at when opposing it, I guess nothing has changed in that instance. It won't be kill stealing, as it will be trying to kill you! Good point of view.

Can't you shoot out some of the cap ship guns to make it less likely to pinch your targets?
 
The CZ I've joined so far have never had a cap ship. What happens if you shoot out some of the guns and you are on the same side?

Hehe, you are no longer on the same side. So all your original enemies are red, and all your previous allies (including the Cap ship) are now red, and shoot you as well. You pretty much die, unless you have full shields and run really fast.

You missed out flying with one before the patch, you should still check it out just to see it jump in. Amazing feeling seeing it warp in.
 
What if they just had capships fly in randomly in combat zones do a bunch of shooting and then flying back out instead of sitting in the same one all the time?

Would also like to see capital ship vs capital ship battles.
 
Exactly, all they had to do was make them move and presto, no more AFK camping.

Fast fix needed!!

Fighting with federation and i cant get any bonds for community goal beacouse farragut class battle cruiser steals all kills


FD pls fix fast
 
So go to a different conflict zone. It is this way from people parking right next to the cap ship with turrets then just going afk and farming money.
