And I probably would be if we hadn't just gotten a glimpse of how much better the DLC can be.
As someone who prefers animal packs (at this point, anyway; who knows how I'll feel later down the track), I understand what you mean. But I think I'd rather take this imperfect (but still pretty good) compromise that leaves everyone mostly happy over something more divisive, like an items only pack or another animal only DLC. No-one gets everything they want
but we get four highly requested species, which is pretty great, and people who are in it to build get new pieces to play with, and I guess I like the outcome where this pack does well and keeps the game pottering along and reaffirms that this is a worthwhile endeavour for Frontier to continue with.
I think because of the very different values of the playerbase for Planet Zoo, there's always going to be this friction, because we generally see anything
they're getting (whoever they are) as something we're
not getting. To hardcore builders, animals can represent time not spent on adding new building options; to animal lovers, building pieces can represent animals not in the game. It's just how this game is always going to be, because it attracts people with different goals and sources of joy. Frontier has to find ways of walking the line, and so far I'm personally not mad about the results.
