after an hour or 2 I get crackling sound errors and image glitches and stutter

anyone else has that?

1080 and CV1

I restart the Computer and ist fine again for the same time roughly... I Play through the debug tool with 1.5 at VR high...

Before on my Laptop with a 980m in VR low I didnt really have that...

Yes me!

It was driving me insane. I seem to have fixed it - played for 2 hours or so at the weekend with no issues. Killing off the xbox one wireless controller service and all related processes completely seems to have fixed it and / or I also updated to the latest realtek HD sound drivers. Not yet got round to figuring ou t which fixed it.I'm on latest oculus run time, latest ED version and may NVidia drivers because July drivers screwed me up completely and made things juddery. This issue isn't judder though it's proper glitching.

That almost sounds like something hardware - if you're running for that long and it starts to flake out, heat may be pushing something just over the edge.. Not to panic - if it's stable that long, you're pretty stable, just not 100%..

You have a good quality PSU? and more than large enough?

You have decent airflow inside the case so RAM and other components are cooled?

Maybe a custom fan profile for the 1080 to flow a little more air?

Just my two cents, it still may be software.. but my gut instinct is hardware for some reason.. or running out of RAM someplace..

Not had this problem, not using the xbone wireless controller either - infact its still in the rift box with the usb adapter! HOTAS ftw! :)

If a computer reboot fixes it, it sounds like a memory leak somewhere.

Don't forget to raise a bug-ticket too :D

Do you have an ASUS motherboard? That might be the problem!

I had this problem too, tried everything with/without the xbox controller, wired/not wired. Updated all my USB drivers to their latest version etc. etc. I also have a Vive and never had a problem with that.

But what fixed it for me was uninstalling the ASUS software for overclocking my CPU. It contains a module for boosting USB port performance, or something like that, and the Rift doesn't like that. It's camera sensor needs all the bandwidth it can get. Maybe updating the software will be enough, they might have patched the issue by now, but it wasn't that important for me. Uninstalling the software immediately solved the problem for me.

So I monitored it this time, it happend after and hour and 15 minutes roughly and I was using 9.9 GB of Ram out of my 16 GB at the time the Sound scratchign and judder startet... some 60ish% of ram usage... :(
