After the fifth Odyssey update, I can't get into the upper-left Chat menu and select the received suggestions for completing missions

I play with a Saitek X52 Pro joystick. Windows 10 Pro. Switching in bookmarks in this particular menu does not occur either from the joystick or from the keyboard. In other control panels (in the right, in the left...), switching between the top bookmarks works fine both from the joystick and from the keyboard. But in the left menu where the Chat and Messages about the proposed tasks are located, there is no switching between bookmarks. Only yesterday everything worked - now I can't get into the bookmark with the new received task offer. I don't even know what this task is about.

I started the game in the Horizons mode – everything works fine there. I can switch between bookmarks. I returned to Odyssey again – it does not work here.

Restarting the game and switching from Horizons to Odyssey and back does not fix the problem. It turned out that even in Horizons, when entering this menu and viewing the received messages on missions – the game simply stops working and ends spontaneously.

yes, i noticed this earlier ...

so, now i just use the numbers 1 and then 2 to see the messages up there.

another thing that i wish could be optional ... those 2 info boxes could be gone completely and i would not complain one bit!

By "bookmarks" did you mean tabs, i.e. you can not move left or right between different tabs in the Comms Panel (top left menu in ship) using your joystick?

It still works for me with my Thrustmaster Cougar fwiw.

It is in the above menu. Not only with the joystick, but also with the keyboard – moving between bookmarks in this menu also does not work. In the other menus (in the right, in the lower and in the left) - everything is fine.

I used to be able to open the comms menu by looking at it via TrackIR and be able to quickly cycle through the tabs (to see who's in the instance etc.) while still able to fly the ship. Now that doesn't work anymore so I have to actively open up the menu (using X & dpad up on my controller) to be able to use it, meaning I lose control over the ship's thrusters while I have it open.

One of those "FDev giveth and FDev taketh away" things isn't it.

Stating the obvious, but have you checked that the panels are still set to 'open on focus' or whatever it's called in the control settings?

I always have to manually disable mine as they'll trigger (particularly panel 2) during sharp turns / combat.

Yes - the issue isn't that it doesn't appear, the issue is I can't interact with it (by flicking through each tab for example) beyond pressing the A button which is assigned to activate/deactivate the chat entry box. Once I focus on it via the relevant button combo I assigned to it (which is backup for when I don't use TrackIR) all that works normally.

I have the same issue. I'm using a xbox 360 controller and when I press right stick (for headlook) I can then focus on the comms panel.. which assumes I want to type something. (this can be disabled in options / controls / ship / modeswitch.) anyway, thats not the issue.. The issue is that even if I escape out or disdable text input (on focus) I'm then unable to move between tabs using my LB and RB buttons.. If im in Odyssey it doesnt work, if im in Horizons it works ok and I can headlook and then use LB & RB to move between the comms tabs.

In Odyssey, If I press 2 and get that zoomed in focus, then I can navigate between the tabs with my LB and RB buttons.. It's a pain in the ass and defeats the object of headlook and quickly navigating the tabs.. pressing 2 and then navigating takes too much effort, when youre used to headlook and then LB & RB..

IMHO this is a UI bug and the comms panel is broken in this respect.

Thanks for the heads up, I will avoid clearing my inbox during supercruise wait times as usual.

I used to be able to open the comms menu by looking at it via TrackIR . . .Now that doesn't work anymore so I have to actively open up the menu . . .

Oof. TrackIR is my poor man's VR. If screws that part up, the game will genuinely die for me. 🙏

For me, in Steam VR , with Horizons everything in the comms menu except the chat is disabled. When I switch over to Odyssey then they are enabled again and I can select them. Before this last update it worked fine and I was able to get into multi-crew , now I have to launch with Odyssey in order to get to that comms panel option.

I agree it's a problem if you're on a mission that is continuously updated, but look at the Bright Side™:

You'll never access the insipid cesspool that is System Chat ever again, no matter how much your morbid curiosity might compel you! :)

There are two control buttons for the comms. Quick comms and comms panel.

Quick comms only brings up the chat menu now. So you have to bind a button to the comms panel in mode switches section.
