AI ships unbeatable for Noob players and some other suggestions

Hello All. My complaint is: Every Time I get interdicted, which is quite often, I get destroyed because the AI ship gets behind me and just blasts me out of the sky before I can do Anything at all... and it doesn't matter what my ship loadout is... Cannot even get a target lock. This is extremely frustrating for me and I'm just a novice because I got that rank in Res. Ext. Sites. No actual combat experience. Totally takes the fun out of playing this game... Not to mention the millions of credits I've lost from rebuy costs and mission failure fines. So... How about toning down the AI and give Noobs a fighting chance??? How about this one: The Cobra is the fastest ship in the game, Bar None! Where is the balance there?? So... I have a A-Rated Cobra and I still get interdicted and destroyed by what I call Super AI. How about this one: The security status of a destination jump is only available when the FSD is activated on the HUD. This information should be included in the mission information page before accepting any missions. I seriously doubt that anything will ever be done about any of this... I guess I just wanted to air my grievances even if to no avail. This is just a rendition of my own playing experience with this game. I wonder if anyone else is having the same issues. CMDR. I've always found AI Interdictions (at times annoying, but) rather easy to fly out of. Easy to the point I would almost call them optional. What kind of controller are you using? I'm using a Logitech flight stick and a keyboard. I need the keyboard so I can make better use of my lateral and vertical thrusters. Being able to circle strafe and dance around your target makes you harder to hit and keeps you guns pointed at them.

There are parts of the game that could be more forthcoming with information. It shouldn't be easier for me to go to EDDB to research the price difference for a commodity between 2 ports. And the more advance functions of the galaxy map take a while to figure out.

Big part of game is learning what you can handle with what you got and when to run away. In the early game I would just avoid combat while on mission and save up until I could afford to outfit a ship for combat properly (which doesn't necessarily mean A rated everything). I went from a Sidewider, to a Cobra, to my current main ship an Alliance Chieftain. Even when I was in my Cobra I didn't try to take on anything larger than an Asp by myself. If things did end up getting too hairy I used my Cobra's speed advantage to punch it out of there. As for early game combat practice forget Rez Sites, bounty hunting at Nav Becons is better for new players. It's slower paced, you normally have lots of AI ships around to help, and no asteroids to avoid.

The problem with toning down the AI to suit you means there's no challenge whatsoever for the people who can already handle it.

I've only ate one NPC rebuy ever, and that was back when I was in a viper mk4, my first dedicated combat ship, completely unengineered, trying out conflict zones solo for literally the first time. I then took it back to outfitting, adjusted my loadout a bit and put more reinforcement in, made a habit of plotting a route to a high-wake target before dropping into the zone so I could slap the "target next system in route" hotkey and bail if things got too hot for me, and I've never entered a fight I couldn't leave since.

I've had a few close calls - one time my T9 was taken down to 5% hull when I was pulled by an anaconda and I'd forgotten my fighter pilot, and the first time I took on a cyclops interceptor I was sent packing with my tail between my legs at 33%, but apart from that there's no reason why "super NPCs" should be sending you to the rebuy screen so often unless you're sticking around to fight something that's way above your weight class.

Unless you’re packing decent shields / hull on your cargo mission, just hit 75% throttle in super cruise and avoid the interdiction altogether. With a little practise it’s laughably easy to evade interdiction ... so long as you drop your throttle to 75%.

This game is hard. It does everything to kill you. It relies upon your mistakes, weaknesses and indecision. To me; the last is the key.

Cobra III is the ship to run in and running, is the thing to do.

1st: The 'Blue circle game'? you do not have to play it. Just throttle down and plan ahead. The first thing you need, is to have a 'high wake' or another system to jump to, ready to go. So throttle down and make sure you are ready to high wake, set the target system; but do not try to jump. If you have been pulled, you will die if you jump. When ready two things to do. Turn to the system you wish to jump to and throttle to '0' and you will drop.

As soon as you drop, pips to engines and turn towards the system, unless you are still pointing at it and run. Drop chaff and use up and down thrusters to weave. You should have already hit the jump button; almost as soon as you dropped into the normal space. Speed of acting and of your ship is key. This can be all over in under 12 seconds in a Cobra.

Indecisiveness will get you killed; every time.

I'm guessing that a lot of the times you are being interdicted and destroyed, you are running a mission of some sort. You need to pay attention to the rank of the mission, as NPC's sent to oppose higher ranking missions will be higher ranking themselves and typically in be in bigger and more powerful ships. This is really important, because while the game might give you a bit of a break based upon your own combat ranking, it won't be much. If you are taking Dangerous, Deadly or Elite ranked missions, they are meant to be more challenging. Yes, the rewards can seem to be attractive, but the risks from running them are greater. (If a mission has a rank based on trade or exploration, you need to translate that to the relevant combat rank to figure out how potentially challenging it might be.)

Mission spawned NPC's will attack you in any security level system. The only difference is how quickly system authority turn up to help you out. High security and they turn up very quickly, medium it takes a minute or so, low security even longer and anarchy systems you are on your own. Take a quick look at the system in the galaxy map and either set your filter to system security to be able to see at a glance, or go to the system map of the system and the security level is written there on the left. But as I said, the system security level doesn't affect whether you will be attacked, or what kind of NPC will attack you. Mission spawned NPC's are always based upon the rank of the mission you accepted.

My guess (and of course I could be wrong) is that you are simply taking missions too far above your own rank, and as I said before, those NPC's are designed to be stronger and offer a greater challenge. Your best bet in a Cobra is to use that speed to your advantage and boost away out of range while firing off a chaff. Once you are out of range of their weapons then you can try and target them and decide whether it is a fight that you think you might win.
