Alert commanders community goal at 20 OphiuchiI

186.37Ly away... yeah... no.

What are the rewards usually for these types of community events? I haven't played long enough to do any of them. I know in the past there were discounts for the Imperial Clipper and such, but that's the only community reward I know of.

Think I have just been really lucky with a the systems i have visited so far. The ONLY crash to desktop I have had is once when I changed to my new culture ship. Oh and last night my docking computer slammed me into the pad on a platform station for the FIRST TIME. Luckily even though I was going nearly half maximum speed, it barely dented my shields. It quickly sorted its error and touched me down gently. Gave me a scare though. Teach me for being lazy, I can dock almost with my eyes shut. I just never tire of the 'Blue Danube' , beautiful piece of music that suits the gracefully wheeling through space as you dock. ( until you end up with the back of your head pushed through the front of your face andpicking your teeth out the cockpit screens ) :)

Example of previous rewards:

Description:
In recognition of the well intended efforts of Aisling's Angels, the Princess Lavigny-Duval has issued a request asking that all members of her fleet position themselves to protect the Angels from pirates looking to interfere wit their efforts.

Imperial pilots willing to lend their combat prowess to the cause are asked to patrol all local systems, not just Persephone, in order to ensure that an adequate level of security coverage has been arranged to properly protect traders and relief staff as they ship medicine throughout the area.

Result:
Imperial security agents have been successful in their attempts to secure the spaceways around Persephone. As a result, Aisling's Angels have had a much easier time of delivering medicines to the people of Quivira.

In honour of their combined efforts, and to thanks those who sacrificed their time in service to the house of Duval, the Princesses will be offering a 15% subsidy on all Imperial Couriers purchased from Baker Terminal in Achenar.

I look at the number of contributors to that event, and it is no wonder the ones we are doing are not even remotely close to the first tier. :( I hope they take a look at this on Monday and make some changes to the scaling. Otherwise, most folks who participated in these events will be unlikely to bother the next time one comes along. Myself included! :(

Hmm, that doesn't seem to bad at all. I may just make the trip up there and do some RES Bounty Hunting. From the galaxy map the system is full of ringed planets. Awesome.

I'll gladly wing up with anyone from here that wants to bounty hunt. I don't mind sharing the profits for the sake of fun. Hopefully I'll be able to be in Open Play without it crashing like crazy!

Well, the active player community on xbox one is still fairly small. I wonder how many players even know this event is going on?

If in-game Galnet were slightly revamped to provide better notification of these events, or if the community event came up as a highlighted marker in the galaxy map more players would know about these types of events.

Also having the community events listed like they are for PC. I know that there is an active community event thread but it is only for the PC before anybody points it out.

This once again goes back to a point I have been making about ED from the first day I started playing. The GAME > PLAYER communication sucks! You never know when you rank up, you have to actually check your stats to know what is going on. And events like this, as you say appear, but there is never any POP UP message alerting EVERYONE in the game that it has begun and to HEAD OVER THERE and make a difference in the outcome!

They warn you when your ship is overheating with a BIG HUGE message. Why can't they employ that same system when it comes to Community Events and such? And then leave a descriptions item in your TRANSACTIONS menu so you always have it there to remind you where it is and how long it lasts etc.

This is the one area of ED I find strange. And it goes against everything related to Console Games, where the in-game communication regarding player progress and mission events is always a major aspect of the game's mechanic.

They really need to work on this! Badly!

Oh noes a simulator that requires you to simulate real activities like doing a bit of research or paying attention to your own statistics. I believe there is a bit of a difference in getting a message relating to the health and integrity of the ship that you fly and knowing you reached another mostly useless rank that you weren't even really trying to consciously get. As far as community goals are concerned, once you sign up it will appear in your transactions tab until it's over

I finally got the time to go to 20 Ophiuchi and check out the two Community Goals (CGs) with my XBox One account. This account I'm posting from is my PC account and I've completed MANY CGs in the PC version. My evaluation of these two CGs is frankly that they are not setup correctly for success. It has me wondering if the person(s) at FD or Microsoft didn't know all the details how to setup a CG.

In every other CG I've ever participated in (on the PC version), there are multiple tiers showing and the first tier is almost always easily reachable within a few hours and give people a way to gauge the payoffs of the CG. On these two CGs, there is only one tier way up at the top which is completely unrealistic and unreachable in the timeframe. I understand that the FD team has a lot higher priorities, but NOT getting quick little things like this right is an unexplainable mistake which should be corrected quickly! These two CGs are completely useless and counter productive unless FD fixes them by adding several more tiers for each of them.

FD, people in the Microsoft console world are learning about this game right now. Go easy on them like you initially did the PC players with some really lucrative CGs at first to really get them fired up!!!

I'll go add a bug for this if it isn't already there.

Yarrrr..

Spent much of the weekend grinding the community event, but like you all are saying.. will be all for not if there isn't more participation.

I just learned that this is not and XBox One bug. These CGs are configured the same way on the PC version too. This completely baffles me. Is the good management I'm used to at Frontier on vacation and a band of complete idiots are now in charge?

Maybe they are intentionally trying to sour the CG milk so people will actually start using the PowerPlay features? If so that a REALLY bad idea!

Do they want to make sure that none of the outbreak CG succeed just to further a plot line? It's a really stupid way to do it if so!

Frontier management, I love ya, but in this case, you need a quick slap to the back of the head!

Hi folks, as has been mentioned, community goals are not currently set-up in the GPP, but we will be looking to test this feature at a later date. :)

The quote above from Frontier is all we got on this CGs Bug report https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showth...01#post2561601 which I entered over the weekend. Immediately after the comment the bug was closed. Frontier obviously has the right to close a bug if they think its not a bug, but it would have been nice if the guy had tried to get his facts streight.

Community goals are in the XBox One Preview and they are functional and working as designed. It's too bed these latest CGs were designed to fail on all versions of the game. It's also too bad that Frontier QA doesn't even know the state of the preview which they are testing.

Yeah...I found their response and the closing of that thread INCREDIBLY LAME!

You see! I was right!

For all intents and purposes, we got your #5 result!

The feature is not implemented on the XB1 version, YET they still come up as if they are part of the game. I have said before and I will say it again.... This Beta Test program is pretty weak!

I'm also not very impressed by the response from FD.

I was aware when I started the 'community goals' last weekend that we stood no chance of completing it, but thought they may adjust the goals, and was interested to see what they're about. Previously, I have not seen any comment from FD about the community goals in the preview but from his comment it seems this was common knowledge? Considering several hundred people took part I think the flat one line response is not a smart one.

There seems to be constant confusion on this board on what is working and what isn't in this preview, can I suggest a sticky at the top of the Xbox section with a 'current state of play' from FD for the different parts of the game in the preview to try and stop so much confusion.
