Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

Humans didn't need any alien influence to discover triangles, all you need is a stick to draw in the dirt. Connect three dots and you've discovered the triangle.

The argument you're making is essentially the same as saying "oh hey, this unknown ruin is coloured red and the Feds use red so therefore it must be the Feds". Basic shapes like triangles are just about as obvious a motif to choose as a particular colour scheme is.

The other thing you're implying is that the ruin can't be alien because it doesn't match the style of the alien probes. That also doesn't follow. There could be multiple alien species. In fact I'm sure DBOBE mentioned that the remains of extinct alien civilizations was coming to the game, and I'd say that's what we've got here. See this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...turesruins_to_discover_in_the_galaxy/d7jfyhq/

Well, you have an alien monolith machine that has lots of blinking triangles running in patterns- very similar to the loading screen of our own UI. Two computers of some sort that run similar looking things.....

Let me clarify re aliens: the probes and wreckage are not human- and neither is this base. What I'm alluding to is that whoever built this base maybe had a hand with us at some point, either with technology or influence. Maybe they still do, as with Halseys little journey.

It just seems odd that you have an alien base use loads of triangles and triangle based geometry, and then have another race (humans) in the same game use even more triangulated textures, objects and art. Surely every race should be distinct? If its not, is there a reason?

15G isn't the planet's gravity, this means that it is moon G orbiting the 15th planet in the system.

This is cool, and it's what I've always felt these ruins are: a stellar map meant to tell us something important. If that one ridge points directly at Merope, then I have to wonder what the ridge right above it is pointing at?

It's the same group as before isn't it?

Is this the only group that's doing this?

Yes it is.

Yes it is.

It's the set on the right hand side of the map, inside the walls. I've just dropped into a PG on my own, gone over to them and there's only 1 lit up. I've got another person coming in, so we can see what happens with 2 people.

Crikey, exciting!!!

So in PG only, implying it's NOT time based, ie lighting up at night is normal. Or position of the planet etc since this is common to all modes.

The only difference is player actions surely?? Or as who? says, instance bugs =p (or RNG I spose)

Ssssh don't mention instance bugs, I want to believe something's going on.

Del just got into the PG instance with me, still only 1 lit up.

Hm. Talking about lighting up at night makes me curious.. Has anyone seen this place in dark yet? I've only seen screenshots of it during the day. And only been there myself and seen day. Maybe something happens when its completely dark??

Nope this is the first time it's entered darkness, we have 4-5 days at least I reckon.

Hi all, on the Xbone here.

Can confirm multiple data points being active in the same clusters. It was the two clusters to the right of the "ramp" to the landing pad if you're looking from the outside circle. I spend all morning there poking around and eventually left and am now parked on the first planet past the lava one in the 2nd suspected site system. What do now? I wanna help!

It baffles me that we find this cool place in game with these mysterious artefacts and the first instinct for some players is just to go there and shoot other players.
Specifically helpless ones that can't fight back.
Not investigate the site for themselves, or anything, no, just kill everyone there.
Human intelligence is limited. Human stupidity is not.

If the place is an archaeological site, perhaps there is a sequence that we need to trigger on the Obelisks in the right order. Perhaps like a keypad or a puzzle that seems to frequent ancient sites a la Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider? This might explain why they are persistent and reset in different instances. I'm also testing out the theory that the circuit style track things are pressure sensitive....

True, but it might not be a map from the planet surface, but rather a map from the system itself, Synuefe xr-h d11-102. Star systems don't move relative to each other, at least not fast enough for us to worry about. :D

If we do end up finding a second site, then I wonder if that smaller landing pad at the "bottom" corner of the map I posted might represent the second ruin site? That would give us two points of reference on the "map" to figure out where the lines might actually be pointing too, if you use the galactic plane as a flat plane to lay the map out onto.

Absolutely. The layout of the site might be representative of constellations or system positions; though it is tricky to map from a 2D layout to a 3D universe.

It is actually possible that lines/mounds in the site do point to a certain point in the sky, but it would be time-sensitive. It could be something like: if the two circles in the site represent that pair of planets, then if you stand in the middle of the larger circle (representing the planet you're on) and the smaller planet is over the smaller circle, then some line in the ruins represents the direction you need to look.

Did anyone already establish a search pattern on the planet's surface outside the Ruins? So if there are any more remnants, maybe even right on the opposite side of the planet?

Does anyone know what altitude you are able to see these ruins from? I'm currently searching COL 173 Sector KY-Q D5-47 15 G, and I would hate to miss something due to being too far away.

Can somebody if not done already bring the newly called cargo scanner (manifest scanner) to the site since it scans for onboard life now aswell as cargo, you never know there might be something it does.

Also here a video of the site, i traveled all ends of it and from what i seen those constructs around the outer walls, and the circular landing like pads they seem to be some form of interlocking structures like the space shuttles we have that before takeoff and repairs lock the shuttle in place, I know everyones saying those circles are landing pads but as i mentioned before i actually think the whole structure is some sort of landing/refueling post for their motherships.

Maybe even after a long fly to human space having a refueling station before there maybe interstellar battle with us refueling would be a good option before they engage with humanity.

Also sorry for the lag that site literally was lagging me every few minutes.

RARRRRR

3 crashes in a row each within 1 minute of logging back in to the instance! This is the worst it's been in ages! Last time I logged in 3 were lit up, but I crashed before I could get a picture. Can't make it to another set to see what they're doing.

It's beginning to sound like this is a giant machine; the puzzle to solve is to get all the obelisks lit & the blue light (also seen in some patches on the ground) is energy that powers the machine. If some are correct & the mounds are launch/landing pads for huge ships then this might be: a ruefuelling station, a knowledge repository, an alien version of Universal Cartographics .....
