Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

How do you know for sure it's not Alien related?
Maybe because they never claimed to care about the aliens? Maybe because their name is "Revolution Incorporated"? Maybe because they wanted to blow up someone last year? Maybe because they want to teach someone a "lesson in power"? Its just the usual leftist power to the people tripe, which means they want the power.

Also the encryption they used was simpler and much different from the nonograms used by those investigating the aliens.

xdeath is right. I think we're done here with regards to this group.

I'm with the group. If we put our heads together on this and decide it is too risky, we as a group can stop it. Let's think about this and come up with an approach.

I'm sorry, but I'm not taking candy from the stranger in the van with no windows!! Let the group that's collecting all the CG stuff clearly identify who they are and what their aims are before we hand them the keys to the kingdom.

To all those who for whatever reason think that you deliver a cure to a virus or anything: read the description of the stuff again. This is no cure. It is a programable bio weapon. From the description it can even be programed to kill a specific lifeform (be it "Thargoid" or "Human"), then go dormant and wait till new hosts arrive. You can easily turn whole planets uninhabitable with that stuff.
.
So, what's the best way to stop this event? UA bombing?
.

You misunderstood my "theory". Although it's not very certain, that those events have really occurred - pretty much everything else just doesn't make any sense, especially if you - as i said - consider all that has happened with the Formadine Rift (which, i believe, is not a place, rather than a metaphor), with Salomé, how the Superpowers are behaving and everything else around that story arc.

Just a quick quote from the Wiki:

Certain events in Frontier: First Encounters have indicated that there may be another side to Thargoids; in prior conflicts, they have shown some anomalous behavior that does not entirely match with their popular image as relentless killing machines. At some point, a Commander Jameson may or may not have interacted with them, and may or may not have chosen to provide them with the vaccine to a genetically-engineered fungus ("hyper-mycoid") that attacked critical materials in their hyperdrives, preventing the construction of interstellar vehicles. If not, and if they appear in Dangerous regardless, then it can be assumed they developed a countermeasure on their own.

As i said previously: It's not absolutely certain, that it really occurred like that. But: Commander Jameson is mentioned and referenced in E:D. And considering, that they have engineered a fungus that attacked their hyperdrives, Thargoids have essentially been restricted to their planets and sublight travel. That is why the pilots federation hard coded our Nav-Computers, so that we can't travel into the space of the Thargoids.

My believe is, that the fungus we have found on that planet, is that said fungus - although it isn't clear, since it hasn't been analyzed properly by this time. At least, as far as i know.

Considering all this, and the Guy Fawkes, all those cryptic messages and so on, all those "they can't get away with that" - i also believe, that this is to "save" the Thargoids and "free" them. What that will do - i have no idea. But i am absolutely certain, that we are going to have a War at hand - one way or the other, the Federation and the Empire will go to war.

Because considering the history of Humanity in E:D...it isn't very different from what we have right now, and we have a huge number of conflicts simmering on a lot of fronts.
And i also believe in light of recent events, that the ruins are definitely "Human" in the broad sense of it.
And maybe, i'm totally wrong, and this is even bigger - a third race, that want's to eradicate us all and we need the Thargoids to help repel whatever is coming.

But: I do not believe, that the CQ has negative effects or even genocide in the back playing.

That's what I said. It's already succeeded. From here on out the only difference is the quality of the rewards. And yes, Darnielle's Progress is still selling Meta-Alloys. Just picked some up.
Sorry about that, I just went back over your post & see that now, must have misread it.
Thanks for verifying that Darnielle's Progress is still selling the Meta-Alloy

I will use whatever words I damn well please. 'Kay? Ain't nothing wrong with that.

I knew this question would come up. Short and simple answer. I don't. No one really knows for sure.
We also don't know that Edmond Mahon is not secretly an Thargoid.
I mean I have this picture here.

First of all, maybe time to calm a bit down, eh? Before things become too heated.

Second, while your comparison is funny, it's not a completely valid comparison in my eyes (and I am surely not alone in thinking this) - while you might be of the opinion that the probabilities of the two hypotheses you compare are similar, others might disagree, and regardless of my personal opinion on this, surely it is a bit hasty to advocate banning a discussion on this thread just because some of the participants think they are more or less sure about something?

You sure? The translation for "To Learn, to Equate, to Divide" in english to latin came out like that in Google translate ^^

Thanks for the +1 :)

As I said, it's not an error, but a typo - you (or Google?) just switched 'u' and 'a'.

Except that we already know that FDev are willing to adapt an outcome, like Colonia for instance. I have not idea what the CG success outcome is supposed to be. Does anyone?

Will do.

SDC are here too btw

AhAh!
I love you all guys... it seems we have disagreements here :D

My thoughts on the matter:

We do not know what this CG will bring to the story but, according on how much care FD put on the riddle to find it, it seems to me that it must be important.
So, positive or not, it needs to be done.

To let the story unfold.

I'm sure we'll have plenty of things to do in the future to counter it if it is bad.

Right now, what I think is: "the show must go on".

Ladies and Gents, Elli system is the centre of the PvP players universe at the moment, take care.

I've just made a little 'how to' video that I'll post in the main forum in a bit. It's nothing fancy, just basic survival skills.

UA bombers, you're not allowed to watch!!!

Does the video involve switching to the Canonn private group? :3

I recorded the whole 20 minutes of transmition with only a small mistake on my side where a few digits are missing because I pressed the boost button. (I also didn't capture the entirety of the blinking so if that is a morse code I'm sorry)

I hope this is useful (Youtube Link) : https://youtu.be/gJpsb5FKE7k

The entire message translates down to this: 9 18 5 22 15 12 20 19 2 5 15 3 10 6 19 3 21 7 10 5 18 7 5 6 10 13 3 6 6 1 23 21 13 14 7 10 1 7 2 5 11 3 6 14 3 2 7 5 24 8 18 11 15 1 4 1 2 5 10 1 11 3 7 14 3 25 23 16 6 19 8 25 12 5 2 23 12 8 7 7 14 3 25 11 1 11
Creds to Dark_Crusader for writing it down

Is it "play in Solo" advice video? :p

Mmmm! Time for Scorprox´ new conspiration theory.

This community goal seems to be a very clever way that FDev have found to cripple and hopefully slow down the excellent work done by Canonn
by splitting them apart into two parties: bombers vs. suppliers
Both ways are scientifically unpredictable, they are driven by instinct and maybe moralty. How can Canonn deal with those aspects?

It looks to me as if their plans are succeeding at the moment.. ;)

Good theory.

But... It's not Canonn members who is arguing. :D

xdeath my good man if you want to "hunt" aliens, then feel free, but I certainly wouldn't condone that kind of behaviour. And my "What?" was simply in reply to you saying we don't have anything else to discuss at the moment. (not sure what quoting 1 rifter's opinion is supposed to support)

Anyhow, when all's said and done, this isn't the first time we've disagreed about what course of action to take, it certainly won't be the last, and that's one of the great things about Canonn.

I took over 90 to Elli, but at a net loss of 3m credits. The CG reward will cover it so no biggy. In fact, the CG rewards look like they'll be pretty hefty. Maybe as high as BH and CZ related CGs, we'll have to wait and see. At the rate it's going though, it'll be over before the server update which is when/if a UA effect would be applied. I'll keep investing time into completing it faster than trying to delay something that will be too little, too late.

Okay so now, to be 100% clear. I am just having fun. What Rizal said about following the story is something that I personally agree with. I am roleplaying, but I can understand that in a game like this the line between character and player is often blurred. For example, My CMDR Basch Fon Ronsenburg was the first to discover the Ancient Ruins. I, the player, was also the first to discover the Ancient Ruins. The distinction is, my CMDR found something that could change humanity. Where as I, the player, just found something in a game.
If you are just rping as well, then ignore what I just wrote.

The comparison was to highlight that any connection can be made to Aliens/Thargoids. We need to focus where we are sure.

Truth be told, there is no out-of-game, non-roleplay reason I could give for not participating in the CG. But there are good Roleplay reasons not to do so.

Do we really want the Canonn's name to be muddied by supplying a potential BioWeapon to terrorists? We also can't ignore the infighting about whether to participate or UA bomb the station.
No, this is just bad for the Canonn. We shouldn't tie the Canonns name to this.

Probably been tried but has anyone scanned all the beacons in quick succession as if they were data points on a settlement?
