Alien Artifacts and permit

I have just seen another new item in another thread, Antiquities or something. They are 'extracted' it says on the description. Peregrina and surrounding systems are a heavy extraction/mining zone. I've heard someone else say they found something interesting while mining but won't say what it is. hmm

Antiquities are obtained from Isinor, from a convoy with a T9 protected by two Anacondas. That's a bit different, though, in that it's a marker in the navigation panel similar to a checkpoint or combat zone, rather than a signal source.

A bit of history from year 3255 FFE. I found this on internet:

If you like you can also investigate the damaged thargoid ship (there is a lot of alien artefacts floating around it for you to pick up).

Academics from Institutes, Academies and Universities in all three galactic powers have been invited to an Inter-species Convention on the alien spaceship currently docked at Canopus [location was where I was, probably a bug]. Human speakers have been invited on a number of topics as widely divergent as linguistic development and trans-species eco-terrorism. Alien lectures will be delivered on, amongst other topics: hexagonal aesthetics and Species Interchange: A new look at the Paradigm Shift in experimental psychology. Short communications will be presented between the main topics and static presentations are invited for the lecture area. Summaries and synopses should be available for scrutiny by 24-May-3255. Those wishing to attend should contact the local Academic Council, Institutional Legislate or State Provost, as applicable.
So, the waiting is over - they've finally turned up! One would suspect that the actual location was an Alliance world, as they employed me to contact the Thargoids. The other journals emitted a stony silence on the issue. The names of the courses are actually randomly selected from a list. One of the possibilities is "mythical spacecraft up to and including the Mirage 1."

IMPERIAL HERALD - 13th Aug 3255

Emperor to ban performers His most exalted Excellency Hengist Duval, Friend on the victims of War, Hammer of the causes of War, Upholder of the Scales of Peace, Ally to the Aliens, yesterday issued an edict through the offices of the Pan Systemic Imperial Councils forbidding any future performances of gratuitous juggling within the range of Imperial jurisdiction until further notice. The ruling follows an unfortunate incident that has recently come to light involving the newly retired ex-Crown Prince Harald and a number of minor articles of clothing. The Emperor (May Light forever shine on His Countenance) sat in State in a meeting of the High Legislate and was much disturbed by the reports of street performers and patchwork circuses in the outer regions. It is His Excellency's esteemed belief that upright and hard working Imperial citizens would prefer to spend their free time learning the full history of our past encounters with our new alien allies.
Accordingly, local Civic Guard leaders have been advised of the new changes in the new standard leisure curriculum and will be provided with suitable teaching material as soon as the latest budgetary estimates have been processed.

This is admittedly almost totally irrelevant, but notice how the Emperor is referred to as being the 'Ally to the Aliens'....

done that too, but its not really worth that 90k:
yes, i boosted the 2 anacondas with my python and only got the bounty when i shoot the t9 cargo hold and it only gave one artefact. before that i boosted the t9 too and gave nothing.

Intresting... its from FFE I guess? because any info you get on elite from Olite site is non canon

Yep, I can confirm that it's from FFE. See Jades' FFE site for the other related stuff as well. But then, I don't think we know how canon the events of FFE were, as there were different possible endings (aiding the Thargoids, or fighting them).

There is also this: http://www.dream-ware.co.uk/first-encounters/journals/all/
but its big and I was wondering if this is like our Galnet we have now.
Those are articles from newspapers found in the game. There were five in total, and you could subscribe to them for a minimal fee. After that, you'd get monthly issues (or were they bi-weekly? can't quite remember) the next time you docked somewhere after they were out. There were some articles set to appear at specific times, while others were just fluff to appear at random. So it's not really like GalNet, which is us getting some small news daily from just the one source. (FD bring back the Imperial Herald plz)

After spending 2 days i gave up on this Alien Artifact hunting.
Found nothing yesterday, and the same today.
We were in a wing of 3 fighting our way through vulture and Fdl Strong signal sources with Commander Suranna and HisDudeness and it gave us exactly nothing.
In the beginning we checked every signal source but in the end we concentrated on Strongs only.
At one point Suranna found a Strong source with one AI Relics canister inside and 3 anaconda. We picked it up and all of us double checked that it didnt gave out any sound along with the ancient Artifact i found yesterday.
Also we found a strong source where 2-2 security conda escorting 1-1 type9 like we found yesterday but this time we could scan them and only found Hefnium 178 inside so there goes our theory about these escorted type9's having alien stuff inside.
At the end i found 2 Ancient Artifact again in a Weak source and that was the end of the hunt for me.

Final piece of advice: If somebody still looking and struggling to get signal sources(even with minimum thrust), just drop at your current location and jump out again. This always seemed to restart it for me when i havnt got anything for 2-3 min.

I was doing missions in Timocani. I wasn't looking for artefacts but I got 1 rare artefact a week (the unknown artefact that we're also looking for) from grinding missions and USS's plus a few of the more common one's.
So it won't be easy finding them :(

Btw do the artefacts you found sell for more at Peregrina?

I spent time last night going searching the surrounding systems not just the one in question. I will probably spend the next couple of nights looking in all adjoining systems as its seems it just as likely to turn up AA canisters in those too. Fingers crossed.
In an adjoining system last night (another HIP I think) I found a convoy of Peregrina defence force consisting of x2 type nines escorted by 7 or 8 FDL's, Cobras and Anacondas all mostly in multiple wings but flying together. It was more of a military fleet than a wing. I did not have a cargo scanner so I could not scan the T9's but I will buy one tonight and go back to scan them.

Peregrina system is heading towards war state. It's hard to know if these transports are war related or are always transporting goods from a certain location.

Apparently, in FFE alien artefacts were found next to Thargoid Ship wreckage.

"If you like you can also investigate the damaged thargoid ship (there is a lot of alien artefacts floating around it for you to pick up)." = From an FFE player giving instructions on a mission.

I've stumbles across this info. How relevent it is I don't know. It is 50 years before our current version set in 3250.

This from some FFE missions:
Edit: Do not look if you are still playing FFE story or intend to.

This mission is in Pleione.

"The Thargoid is labelled ????, and you should proceed in the same manner as with Turner's Quest. One reason to be in this area is the number of Alien Artefacts floating around near the dead Thargoid ship."

next mission:

"Once you have destroyed the satellite, select ???? from your navigation computer, and dock with the Thargoid Shuttle. You will notice that there are suddenly a lot of radar blips around you. A look at your system map reveals that you are now a long way from Polaris. Centring your map reveals that you are now in the unexplored system of Miacke (32,144)."

next and final mission:

"
Thargoids' Mycoid Mission

When: After your landing at the Thargoids' main space station
News: N/A
Where: Thargoid Space Station, Miacke (37,144)
BBS Message: N/A
Prerequisites: None
Reward: A Thargoid ship of your own and loads of Alien Artefacts "

"Upon landing back at the Thargoid space station you will be thanked by the Thargoids. Wait a little, and you will be offered a Thargoid warship as a reward."

That is correct.

Others have the permit. There was lots of commanders who just acquired all the permits they could find.

Those commanders are either no longer playing or are not interested in alien artefacts. There is no one else here except me.

I used it as my base for a couple of months, nothing fancy there. Left after I upgraded ship to one where there was a large landing pad

Reminder that Talos, the name given to both stations, was a construct supposed to protect the island of Crete from pirates and invaders.

Hype.

And Talos IV was that planet from the Star Trek original pilot where Commander Pikes was captured and held by aliens...

And it was the only system that was prohibited by the Federation and the only offense that would result in the penalty of death...
