All these mining updates and patches. So combat updates when?

Yea FD wont reward me for my time , so I go elsewhere . Refuse to be forced to mine to get the new content so will play other things.

This right here is my biggest problem with the fleet carriers, mining and the lack of combat.
I have about 20 buddies that I used to pve with all the time that have left the game for the same reason.
Also, sure, mining can be done with a wing but yeah, 4 guys sit a round a rock and shoot at it, whereas combat missions actually encouraged wings.
If it weren't for PvP I would've never come back to the game in the first place.
I feel you Wolf. Hopefully Odyssey will introduce new combat gameplay that'll bring you back.
 
Might be interesting. I think you'd take the win. At first glance the thermal on your hull and shield gave me false confidence but then i saw the engineering on the reinforcements and boosters would be effective against my oc beams, my multis are generically engineered for pve and need a reworking bad. I dont have a Coriolis atm but i suppose piloting in the end could still take it. At least all my boosters and reinforcements are heavy duty. Id give it a go nothing to lose but a little rebuy, right?

Combat is trash in Elite and has been for a couple of years now.
That’s a bit harsh. I do wish combat to be more challenging at higher ranks (and not by hit-point inflation), and that SJA (aka MoM) would get stuck in and put the “I” back into “AI”, but calling combat “trash” is unfair hyperbole.

Edit: I see that your main gripe seems to be with combat payouts rather than difficulty - but then I come at this from the standpoint of doing combat for the fun, not the payouts.

I don't think FD get combat at all: the mine arming time debacle was proof of that. What rustles my jimmies more is FD will risk the ire of people mining for LTDs by fiddling the price every other patch, but bottle out of linking sensors to gimbals, altering shield / hull balance....its silly. The changes they themselves suggested would have added a lot of depth to the game.

The word I'd use would be 'superficial' for combat in ED, there is massive potential for layered stealth, jamming, detection, all sorts- but all squandered.
 
With todays builds there is not much risk vs reward when fighting npcs. Only pirates and militairy courier convoy npcs are hard to fight.
