I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Yeah I did a bunch of missions out of Procyon and Luyten' s star, getting up to Friendly. Then I dumped about 2 million of exploration data with them and got Allied. Took awhile to get the permit mission to appear as others have said.

I found that the permit mission was only randomly there after you were allied. Had to resort to mode switching. Bit lame :(
Yeah, I noticed that too. The permit mission appeared most of the time, while I was "friendly", but I soon as I became allied, the mission simply would not show up. Even mode switching didn't get it to appear. I finally went off and did some other missions and the next time I was back in the Sirius Corp station, the permit mission finally appeared. Definitely annoying.

Will be interesting to see if you can get the Marco invite while Sirius Corp is in lockdown.
Yes, you can. I did.

Like with all missions, you're somewhat at the mercy of the RNG.

I recall, when I got the Sirius permit, the invite mission was often visible at whatever station I was using to gain Sirius Corp rep' although it was always showing as "unavailable" because my rep' wasn't high enough.

And then, when I finally reached allied status (or whatever it was) the bloody invite mission had vanished.
That's exactly what I experienced, too.

And looks like I've got more than enough modular terminals after the next run :D Now the question is what to craft with Qwent to unlock Palin... I don't really want to fry myself with overcharged G5 power plant nor do I want reduced power efficiency in return for less heat. Perhaps it's the moment when I don't want to go beyond G1 PP, let's hope 59 Sulphur is enough to get something I can work with.

I went for weapons focused distributer in the end. As a 'hold down the trigger and ignore everything else' combat pilot I figure it might suit my play style. Would have liked to have paired it with an efficient power plant but when I tried it my ship wouldn't power up!

FWIW, you know you can rank-up the Engineers without actually accepting any mod's, right?

That's acually one of the main "tactics" you need to use; pick a mod you DON'T want (and, thus, don't have any use for those mat's) and do a bunch of G1 rolls, decline the final result, then do a bunch of, say, G3 rolls and do the same.
That'll quickly get you to G4/G5 and then switch to the mod' you DO want and apply that.

Also, I gotta say, I don't really understand why people aren't keen on Qwent.
Both the PP and PD are things where modding them to extremes can damage the flexibility of a ship.
As a rule, I always mod' my PP' last and then just overcharge it by enough to keep my ship running properly. Anything more creates a lot of heat.
As for the PD, I usually find that modding it to G5 can create things which are a bit too "extreme".
I usually go for a G3 or G4 Charge-Enhanced PD, which seems to work well for energy weapons and shield recharge.
