Allow a ship to be recalled from storage

Please allow a ship to be recalled from storage while on foot in the station concourse.

For example, instead of paying to have a ship transferred from one system to another, I should be able to take a shuttle to the other location, disembark and recall the ship I have stored there, board and fly.

isn't this how it works already?

Be at different station than your stored ship.
Walk To Apex travel, book transport to your station with your ship (limit of max 100 LY apply, so the destination is more than 100 LY away, you have to make multiple Apex travels)
Enter concourse´at final destination, walk to Ship "shop" and request your stored ship
Walk to elevators and enter your recalled ship.

No, that's not quite what I want.
To quote from the Codex on Inter Astra "Please note that to access Inter Astra's vendor services you must have an active ship docked in the local shipyard."
What I'm wanting to do is take the shuttle to another station where I have ship(s) in storage and retrieve one of them. Having arrived in a shuttle, I won't have an active ship at that station.

So you haven't even tried it. you have just read and believe that whatever it says is 100% true.

So since I believe in testing stuff before I make suggestion... I did this:

1. Logged to Odyssey, was in my cockpit, docked at a station, so my Corvette is my active ship.
2. Disembarked, walked to concourse
3. Visited Apex, booked a shuttle to next system to a station I have stored some ships
4. Let Apex fly me to the other station
5. Disembarked and visited Astra
6. Marvelled at all the OPTIONS Astra offered me

Buy Ships
Sell Ships
Change active ship, and I could pick one of the locally stored ships....

so what you asking for, is ALREADY IN THE GAME

[edit]
just to make it even more interesting,
after visiting my locally selected ship I went back to the concourse.
I booked another Apex Shuttle to another station, where I had no no ships at all
And bought another ship, without having an active ship at the current station.

I thought that the people who wrote the Codex actually knew what they were talking about.

Silly me!

Thank you.

Interesting corner case:
1. Dock a ship on an outpost.
2. Take a shuttle to another station.
3. Choose a ship stored in the station and play with it.
4. Take a shuttle back to the outpost.
5. You have a ship in the outpost, but you cannot activate the ship as the outpost has no shipyard.

This corner case also needs to be addressed. For example, this could be a solution:

  • A CMDR can choose one of his/her ships in the current location, from the turbolift menu. Ship loading can be done while the lift moves.
  • A CMDR can land on an outpost even if another his/her ship is already in it, but cannot actually get into the hangar as it is not allowed to park more than one ships in an outpost.
