The current intervals for engineers to check rides are 10, 20, 30, 45 mins, 1 hour 2 hours and never.
But on higher difficulties, 10 and 20 are realistically the only viable options, with 10 still being too long a window to wait, even on some carnival rides let alone long coasters. I get that is what "difficult" means, but in practise what I just avoid building long coasters all together as they can't be maintained without me hovering other the "request" button to manual ask my engineers to inspect a ride more frequently.
So my suggestion is to allow for checks at 1, 3 and 5 minute intervals as well. As there is nothing to stop me doing this through manual requests anyway, and this wouldn't affect game balance as in order to attempt to implement this in too many situations would exhaust my engineering staff and balloon their budget.
It's just unfortunate to have the longer coaster blueprints that I'm proudest of being unusable at the highest difficulty even when I have engineers sat around with too little work because they just won't check frequently enough without being told manually.
