Modes Almost Two Hours in Open (first time)

My bad, sorry. This amount of cmdrs (and behavior) is typical for CG. I've did some search and found that system you were in is only 11,9ly far from Shinrata Dezhra, this explain yours experience. Shinrata being the most visited system in ED (if stats on Inara are correct) and it mean that there is also high chance for all different kind of interactions.

I park all of my ships at Shinrata Dezhra, and call it 'home'. Oftentimes, it gets so busy in Mobius, that I find myself switching to solo just so I can come and go without all the hassles of dealing with real players.

So I was fairly certain what awaited me in open.

As I said in my original post: No harm, no foul. I was simply posting my experience. The outcome was, as you say, inevitable given the popularity of those systems. If some want to take exception to my post/experience, that is their prerogative. Whatever.

I'm certainly not going to move away just because they appear to be popular destinations. :)

Come on, it's about his personal attitude towards how leisure time should be spent after a long day, and I can very well subscribe to this.

You may haunt Open as long as you want. You just cannot expect everybody wants to join you there. It's another kind of sandbox.

Read the part I emphasized and what I actually wrote again, please.

Had he simply said "I" it would be a different matter, no?

Some people simply find that to valuable and enjoyable, too.
It has nothing to do with your job.
That's kind of an underhanded insult, isn't it?
It sure looks like you are trying to assert that people who enjoy a challenging video game, must not have a challenging career.

What's up with that?

It's not like these video game challenges are all that visceral in the first place.
You can c-log after all!
You are not your CMDR.

I know people who work in mental hospitals, physical therapy, EMS, Police, Fire and so on that go and do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu after work.
Have you ever tried something like that?
There are tons of folks that train for things like Ironman, and have full time stressful jobs and multiple high school kids.
What about them?

And you're here talking about avoiding video game challenges because of work stresses, and insinuating a whole bunch more.
Seems a bit much.

Jockey wasn't saying everyone is like that though... he was pointing out that some people are.

Take me for example, I have had multiple people over and over tell me I HAVE to PVP I NEED to PVP that I am a coward for not PVPing and that Open should be only. Yet not one of them know that because of things in my life that PVP can put me in a mental hospital... They don't give a horses behind about it... all they see is THEY play that way and everyone else should too.. Jockey was pointing out that not everyone has the time or ability to do what some think should happen in the game. Not everyone can play by the "rules" that some want to impose for PVP.

If you are actually insulted by the words "regular people", there is not much I can do. It's an opinion or generalization.

Among the first things they teach you in your first semester of Legal Sciences is to never say 'I think it might' but 'it is (, period)' instead, btw.

A few open advocates would disagree with you on this point - which is why this subsection of the forums exists in the first place.

They want to paint open as the land of unicorns, flowers and hippy hugs.
And while it is not Mad Max and the thunder dome, it also isn't the happy vision they paint either.

Hippy hugs? Is that what you call a sidewinder stuck just to the left of the windscreen?

Among rhe first things they teach you in your first semester of social work is to never say 'it is' but 'I think it is'. Still I fail to see an insult in said remark...

I don't get why people put so much time in such a fruitless and senseless discussion anyway...
Just let everybody play like they want. Who cares who plays which mode?

Is this yet another moRbious "CJFS" (Circle Jerk Fake Story)? 'Cause it looks so.

Oh look another, lets try to insult Mobius and insinuate they are doing nefarious things like fake news because it unfortunately works in the real world political spectrum so why not try it in the ED spectrum post. Why am I not shocked.

How's that attitude working out for you so far? Getting the feeling that Open is suddenly "filled with more targets" yet? ;)

Because it happens so frequently that you've become desensitized? ;)

It's no more fake than the claims that PG's are somehow the PvE "equivalent" of Open...

...which anyone with a brain knows that a limitation on numbers and lack of Friendly Fire controls proves that it's a fallacy.

Its a matter of scope.

When you're arguing about truth (in the sense of its 'classic | mathematical | modern era' binary definition where true is the opposite of false and vice versa and thats absolute - not in the sense of this 'postmodern individual truth | 'situational ethics' folly you might be faced with in private life - it's a fight with arguments over whether something is true or not, including the validity of arguments. There is no third. Legal | Law Science is primarily about this aspect and inherently based on classic, binary truth and logic, merely expressed in words and language. At least, it's so in my country, we got no case law, but inherited the logic and rule-based approach from the Romans.

In social work (one of my sisters has studied this too and is working with autists), the situation is completely different. You're not fighting with arguments, you're assessing situations or diagnosing things and most of it is based on estimations. That's a completely different thing. There still is an absolute truth, but it's hidden. It would be wrong to equal opinions with truth there.

NPCs don't cry and some people only want to farm tears.
The mode system causes them to cry.

So they come here and complain that it ruins their game that they cannot ruin someone else's game.

Finally!

A true behind the scenes look at what is happening in many of these types of threads.
Seems if you are really insecure about your "hidden" agenda then you must post a counter thread like this one. Cant have the noobs thinking Open is dangerous :)
