Alpha 2.2 update!

I just thought it would be good to remind people that for us, rides and coasters in Planet Coaster offer something extremely unique which is their true authenticity. What's more, and I probably shouldn’t mention this, the authenticity (or limits on some coasters) will be used to great effect as challenges in the campaign scenarios.
This would be great if the limits were actually accurate. I noticed your launched coaster doesn't have vertical drops. In the real world a similar launched coaster (Top Thrill Dragster) not only had vertical drips, but they can twist while vertical as well. I seen junior style coasters in real life with 45° hills. There are many styles of coasters in the game that has over-banked turns in their real life counterparts absent in this game. If you're going to have limits that differ from reality at least have the option to turn them off in sandbox situations or possibly in a scenario creator. The best thing to to is to make sure the limits are actually realistic. You have been paying attention to how coaster are built these days, right?

All the coasters in the game are based on a real life coaster. The current launch coaster that we have is based on Formula Rossa, which has a different track type from those that you are referring to and it does not have vertical track. I'm sure there will be other variants of launched coaster in the final game but we only have a small selection of coasters at the moment. It's been suggested in the suggestions forum numerous times so I'm sure they'll pay attention to what people want [happy]

So you are slaying the coaster based on Formula Rossa is incapable of having vertical hills . Just because they have not yet built this coaster with any vertical sections does not mean it wouldn't happen in the future. I don't believe you can define the limits of a coaster based just one build in real life. It needs to be based on what the actual potential is. What about all of the hyper coasters in this game that can't have over banked turns? The Giga Rage coaster is based on B&M giga coasters and it is not capable of over banked turns in the game but in real life they exist. Like I said, their limits are not entirely realistic.

Yes that is what I am saying. I'm not saying I agree with it but I'm giving you the explanation.

The banking and vertical limitation may also be due to technical choices that have been made earlier during the development. To give you an hint, let me ask you this question: What is the bank of a track when it is vertical ?... The answer is: it depends. If you are in an Euler referential, then the equation doesn't resolve and the track has no banking. To change the 'now kind of a banking' you actually need to change its direction now....
In the case of a half loop for example, at the moment you pass the vertical angle, the engine needs to acknowledge that:
  • The banking is now 180°
  • The direction of the track as been reverted (in Euler)
  • The curvature of the track (right/left) now works in revers

What I'm trying to say is that it is technically quit difficult to implement (but not impossible tho) and would require new tools that would be hard to understand for most of the players. So not impossible, but difficult.

What I would say to the team is, push it guys ! You are almost there and I'm sure you can do it. Hire someone who developed tools for no limits if you need (like FVD or Newton) but please make it real ! You are creating the most amazing game of the last 10 years, do it right [yesnod]

But they Build one at the Moment at Ferrari Land in Spain. They have a Strata Coaster (King da Ka/Top Thrill Dragster) with the new Intamin Track Style!

Did anyone stop to think that maybe it's just not been implemented YET? It's an alpha - which means not all features developed. So many people in this thread talking like it's a released game and they're demanding post-release patches, not pre-release alphas.

I hope so, but from what I've seen (banking and tilt limit) the coaster builder looks like it was not designed with inversions in mind. I hope it's planned. The demand is so huge that it would be suicide to not implement it. They're smart, they will do it. [yesnod]
