Alpha Centauri Warning..

Yup. I took a mission to deliver cargo to Alpha Centauri as my last stop on the way to Sol. Arrived in the system, selected Hutton Terminal as my target and... oh, yeah. That one.

Fortunately I had three hours to complete the mission, and the trip only took about 90 minutes. After that haul I decided to park up there for the night and sink into a bottle of wine, I'm reasonably sure Sol will still be there for me tomorrow! :D

Alpha Centauri - lol

Was wondering how Alpha Centauri had both an Anarchy station (no market) and a Federal Confederation (Hutton Orbital with the market). Then I dropped into the system and found myself 0.22 LY from the station. BTW for those visiting and can wait for supercruise to go that far, it imports food.

Ya, I made that run. Only took about an hour. I had an eagle tail me the whole way. He tried (and failed) to interdict me on the other side of the system. Almost felt sorry for him. But then again all of the NPCs appear to be psychopaths so it's hard to care.

1hr 15mins to get there = crappy basic FSD only got up to 1850c before starting to slow down. They really need to make Proxima Centauri a separate system, not just Alpha Centauri C

So does this mean this is the new record holder for the "station with the furthest distance away from main star" title? :)

Makes Anderson Escape looks "nearby".

Local star-to-star hyperspace jumps will revolutionise travel in some systems. Ring your local dealer now, and let them know there is high demand for this! ;)

I was wondering why I wasn't getting close to Hutton being only 0.22 ls away, then realised, it was Light Years!

I would vote for a separate system, or at least in system hyper jumps between stars.

Impossible destination - Hutton Orbital

Don't take any delivery missions to Hutton Orbital in the Alpha Centari System....its absolutely impossible to get there.

The station is 0.22Ly from the star.

I got SC upto 1000c, and the station just sits there, permanently at 0.22Ly away.

Am is missing something here ?

Try flying the opposite way round the star, maybe it's orbit is too fast for you to catch up! :eek:

EDIT: Should have read the OP better...

I think the problem is that .22 Light years is the kind of distance that you need to Jump to, but once you're in-system, all you can do is Supercruise......its just way way way to far away to get there without the abillity to Jump.

That being the case, how the hell did they get a station out there?

Is that station actually in Proxima Centari? Watching Scott Manly flying around near sol (as I start 110ly away... Thanks Frontier) it looks like Proxima might be its own hyperspace node, check the galaxy map or look for it in the nav panel.

It's the closest star to Sol yet it has a crazy long orbit around Alpha Centauri A and B, so it's part of the Alpha Centauri system.

Avoid Alpha Centauri Missions

I took a mission to deliver cargo to Alpha Centauri. The target station is 0.22 LIGHT YEARS from where one emerges from hyperspace in Alpha Centauri. This means it will take me roughly 1 hr of flying in a straight line to complete my delivery. Not exactly compelling gameplay! AVOID. :):)

Well, that sucked. I took this mission not realising Hutton Orbital was near impossible to get to. Got down to about 10% fuel and then decided it was time to quit. Over 4,000 credit fine plus fuel. Where's the annoyed smiley. Previous mission was to Sirius, for which it turned out I needed a permit that I can't get anywhere.

Are Frontier messing with us or something?
