Alright FDev it's time for some real talk.

First of all, I love playing Elite. I'm on it all the time, I have an awesome group of guys I play with all the time when I can and I really enjoy what you are doing here. However, you guys are seriously holding us back with a lot of really simple Quality of Life stuff.

For one; Mail

This is probably the most frustrating feature for me to not have implemented yet. Most MMO style games have a simple in-game mechanic that allows you to send a letter to another player in the game. These letters should be able to have credits or materials attached to them and you should be able to send them even if the recipient is offline. I find this so frustrating because we even have an email tab on our comms panel that is only used by the NPCs. Hell, I'd even pay postage.

Secondly; Credits Transfer

Now don't get me wrong, I get it when you guys say you hesitate to add this because people could just easily send someone who just got the game millions of credits and ruin those first few precious days when you're just starting out. I get that, I really do. But by not implementing this feature you guys are really holding us back in so many other ways. It would be so nice to have the ability to hold a race, or an event or anything with some sort of a prize cup and not has to spend the next hour transferring cargo by dumping it into space. This feature is useful for so many things and I can't believe that in 3302 all the banks forgot how to wire transfer.

Lastly; Trading

This is probably one of the most important features in any multiplayer game and I simply can not for the life of me understand why in the world this was not implemented from the start. I simply cannot tell you how many times I've heard someone say that they need a specific material and I look over and see 50. Then when I need something they have it. Wouldn't it be nice if we could simply work out a deal and give each other those items so we can get on with our lives? No matter how you code it RNG drops will favor some people over others with certain materials and by not implementing a trading system all you are doing is causing hours of unnecessary grinding. Too complicated to implement? Work on the mail system first and we can use that until this is done.

That's all I had to say for now. Hope you guys get this worked out soon.

Which invites gold sellers. For some people it a I win button.

Like the other idea. I think it could promote Gold sellers. The rarer the ore the Higher the cost.

Mail and trading between players are staple features of MMOs. I support it too.

Yep ED shouldn't be so backwards with player mail and trading.

Seriously? Where would gold sellers even advertise? Elite has no local hub where all players have to go so Gold Sellers can just spam in local. Sellers would litterally have to have hundreds of accounts spread across all the popular systems to even make one sale.

There is this thing called the internet ;)

I'm pretty sure all your suggestions have actively not been added to stop gold selling etc.

This is my first serious play of an "MMO" so I haven't formed an opinion on it personally. Sounds like it could be awesome but then you start to hear all the bad sides to it.

I think gold selling wont be problem for Elite even if Elite support player trading. You ask me why I think so? Because there is no real competition in Elite, it is extremely simple. Grinding for Anaconda is matter of hours with smuggling or passenger missions. Currently only ranks and engineers are true time sinks. Even if player will be able to buy gold for real money, there is no reason to do so in Elite, because ED at current stage doesn't any competitive mechanics.

In my opinion the real problem is p2p. It is more difficult to protect p2p game from exploits, item duplication etc. even in GTA V (which is p2p game) players exploits mechanics (because it uses p2p). Still player trading and economy is crucial part of living universe and lack of this totally broke game in my opinion.

ED need only two things to be great: player trading, player territory control (we need some reasons to engage in pvp).

I presume "Gold sellers" means people charging real money for in-game things, unofficially?

Would being able to exchange materials with each other -- i.e. 1:1 materials only -- solve that?

The essence of the "proposals" can be reduced to the phrase "add the trade between players".
However, I want to remind you, that the game is in development yet, and at the moment, not all gameplay elements implemented. At this stage, this option are not critical.
However, over time, if players will be allowed to own a "real estate" and capital class ships for "more effective influence on the development of events in the world of the Elite", then the "trade between players" option, will be not just useful, but vital.

Add a feature complete inventory system to that list. We need to be able to store everything from data and materials to commodities and be able to break things down into units smaller than a ton.

+1 to all other suggestions
