Alright, I'm in.

Yes, Fleet carriers again...

I've been preparing to move a fleet of ships to Colonia and, TBH, engineering modules for ships that are already there was proving to be a bit of a faff.
So, I've made a decision.
I'm bringing a bunch of ships back from Colonia to engineer them and then I'm going to load the entire fleet onto a Carrier and haul 'em to Colonia myself.

In the end I figure it'll save me a heap of Credits 'cos, even though I'm spending Cr2bn to transfer ships back to the bubble, I can then buy a Carrier and save about Cr5bn on the cost of transfering my fleet to Colonia.
Point being, I'll be spending the Credits on a Carrier to move my fleet, rather than spending Cr5bn to move my fleet and then buying a Carrier as well.

So, now I just need for FDev to not screw up Carriers and not make gathering fuel and supplies too arduous. 😕

Here's what I'm planning on taking (if anybody cares):-

Lrg 1: Anaconda - Combat ship.
Lrg 2: Anaconda - large Multirole ship.
Lrg 3: Anaconda - Exploration ship (to get back to the bubble... eventually)
Lrg 4: Cutter - Cargo ship.
Lrg 5: T10 - large Mining ship.
Lrg 6: Orca - Passenger ship.
Lrg 7: Python - Mining ship.
Lrg 8: Python - Cargo ship.
Med 1: Krait Mk2 - Multirole.
Med 2: Krait Mk2 - Naughty ship.
Med 3: AspX - Mat Scavver.
Med 4: Phantom - Exploration ship.
Sml 1: DBX - Scout ship.
Sml 2: iEagle - Canyon Runner.
Sml 3: Hauler - Taxi.
Sml 4: Cobra mk3 - Just 'cos.

I have a plan now, FDev.

Down let me down. 😐

I'm beginning to think these fleet carriers are just large portable closets for hoarders. As a minimalist, can I just have the support ship sans carrier?

We still don't know if the support ships do anything other than being a 3D icon that matches your carrier "specialization"...

<sings> Down doobie doo down down ...

We've been told that fuel can be bought at "some" stations. So the big unanswered question there is... could fuel be bought at the stations along the route between the Bubble and Colonia?

For me, my carrier's gonna be more like a:

Lrg 1: Federal Corvette (I need a staple large combat ship after all)
Lrg 2: General purpose/Fully-loaded Explor-a-conda(for when the Nightingale is too small for the job)
Lrg 3: Type-10 Defender (Just in case 'goids r spotted in places they shouldn't be)
Lrg 4: Beluga Liner (for my most opulent and luxurious passenger ferrying needs)
Lrg 5: Orca (My general purpose Explo/Ferry ship)
Lrg 6: [Reserved for my future Cutter]
Lrg 7: [Free space]
Lrg 8: [Free space]
Med 1: Krait Phantom (My full research and explorer ship, the Nightingale)
Med 2: Krait mkII (Cimex Rete, my flower power picker c: )
Med 3: [Free space]
Med 4: [Free space]
Sml 1: Cobra mkIII (Because tradition demands it)
Sml 2: [Free space]
Sml 3: [Free space]
Sml 4: [Free space]

And in a later thread "I'm halfway to Colonia with my fleet on board and forgot my limpets!"

Synthesis has him covered. But only 4 for 10 nickle/iron, so you can't go crazy.

There again, makes me wonder about FCs and long distance travel if the two options for the materials are mining and buying. I wonder if getting via SRV will also be an option for the new fuel commodity.

No Vipers and too many large vessels.

You sir, would be a prime gank target.

Scratch that. Any of you who own more large vessels than anything else.
