Real World Theme Parks Alton Towers - Secret Weapon 8 confirmed

Alton towers have confirmed that Secret Weapon 8 will be where the Flume site was located before it was removed a few weeks ago.

Excited! Hope it's a woodie.

I think you've already got one.lol.

It's fantastic news after last year. Onwards and upwards methinks. I'm hoping for a wooden hybrid. I remember a couple of years ago when the yellow height balloons were up around the site in the trees. I've never been so excited to see a balloon lol. it was looking back then like this was gonna be the site of the next big development.

The Flume is currently SBNO but apparently, it's being dismantled soon. Don't know how true that is though. If so, I think SW8 may be with us sooner than people think.

Oh yes indeed, a big woodie... [mouth shut]

I think we could start to see construction around Halloween/Scarefest with clues and marketing all year, just like The Smiler was.

The only thing I don't like about Alton Towers is the naming procedures for their new rides that haven't been unveiled to the public yet. I mean, "Secret Weapon"? What are you, Alton Towers, a theme park or a secret nuclear facility disguised as one, poised to begin WWIII?

An RMC hurtling through the landscape through to Forbidden Valley is an extremely exciting thought. The success of this coaster is vital and could do wonders for Merlin and Alton Towers because of their rough time as of late. Alton has been needing a Woodie for years.

It's too add hype and get people talking, it's working clearly!

I don't know CoasterBuff, the S could be denoting a Steel.
Yes you could be right. It would take a lot longer to build a woodie, but a woodie is what needs to be built at Alton Towers. There again, SW could mean a Hybrid Steel/Woodie, with steel loops and 8 drops. [big grin]

Aww come on man, it's pretty cool what they do. It all started with Nemesis, which was originally going to be called Secret Weapon until Wardley saw how boring and inefficient the original ride type was. It was SW3 as a B&M Invert, Oblivion was SW4, Air was SW5, Th13teen was SW6, The Smiler was SW7 and now whatever this ride is going to be is SW8. It's tradition :)

0:15 is a POV. [haha][haha]

SW is the prefix they use before the official name is released and the SW rides usually contain a worlds first element.

There are 5 soon to be 6 SW rides as the first two never made it past design.

SW3 Nemesis 1994 Operating
SW4 Oblivion 1998 Operating
SW5 Galactica (opened as Air) 2002 Operating
SW6 TH13TEEN 2010 Operating
SW7 The Smiler 2013 Operating
SW8 Now confirmed to be a wooden coaster
