General / Off-Topic Am I a good father?

So today the delivery service was at my door to deliver my Saitek x52 and I was out in the parc, playing with my daughter.

I came home and found the note in my mailbox. Now it will be delivered next monday because for some strange reason there's no deliveries on sundays :S.

Now I wonder, if I'd just had my daughter play with the tablet instead of going outdoors at this moment my left hand would have been on the throttle and my right hand holding the stick....

Does this make me a good father?
(consolation is needed ;))

Edit: Apparently I'm also a bad forumite, so could any of the mods please move this to a more suitable part of the forums?

Children should always have parents who are kids at heart...so yes! Your a good father! ;)

By this definition I'm awesome as a father! :D

Remember...noone really "grows up"...we just get more responsibilities. ;)

You did the right thing. Kids come first and time with Dad is more important than a game.
You know the x52 is waiting for you and anticipation makes gratification all the more intense and enjoyable. Maybe you can spend the time looking at the threads on the forum about the x52 and get yourself into a frenzy.

Rep for being a good Dad! :)

You were actually in the park? With your daughter?!

Terrible terrible father. You might have been mugged. Or *****.

Taking children to parks...

You did the right thing DoctorDanny, just remember to get your own back when she's older by being hugely embarrassing as often as possible.

:D

Back in my day we'd never go down the park.

Oh, wait, yes we did. All the time. And we fell out of trees, played swordfights with sticks (surprisingly few eyes were taken out), and spent most of our childhood with scabs on our knees.

You know what, during that time I learned my parents loved me, and had an appreciation of risk and consequences of taking that risk. All of which is more important than getting a joystick a day late.

You did good today. Celebrate every day with your daughter by playing with her. Before you know it, she won't want to.

My ex is away on holiday, so I have my 2 daughters (12 and 17) for 2 weeks.

Friday is Beta day.

I have given them advance warning that they will be going hungry once Beta drops.

Does giving them advance warning make me a good father?

PS (I already have my X52 :))

17-year old should know how to make a meal herself & little sister. And the 12-year old should have the know-how to fix herself some sandwitches if hunger threatens. :)

Of course, a tenner or two & they'll fill themselves with junk food & snacks, no problems... :D

I'm affraid advance warning dont count for much :)

I've given the X52 a testrun on a1.1 yesterday and all I can say is: Wow! That thing makes flying around so much easier than using the keyboard.
