Am I the only one who thinks this is weird...

It's also a video game so there's that. We all started in a ship with weapons we had no idea how to handle.
I didn't even start playing my game until I was able to complete the advanced combat tutorial successfully (3 tries I think). The one people kept saying was too hard, back when it had 2 Eagles and not 2 Sideys. 😛

ED is a semi-serious vidja game, and I give it the respect it deserves. 😄

I slam my ship into pads at full speed and hope I get to repair vs rebuy. I shoot first at settlements, often for no reason, not even wanted or carrying anything. I engaged a military base and killed several before Goliath got me. I once suicided because I was hemmed in and there was a flammable tank near me

I don't take it semi seriously. I get it though.

Portion down is a military site ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porton_Down ) so they always shoot first 🙂

Opening a military defence site I can understand why the machine gun welding police were there ;)
No, it isn't a military site. It's a MOD scientific research centre, not the same thing.

The machine gun wielding "police" and snipers were at the opening of a different site, a civilian procurement headquarters. Porton Down has armed officers (with pistol handguns not machine guns) in adjacent country roads. Mind you, that was before two Orcs came to look at nearby Salisbury Cathedral's spire and poison some people. It may be even more dangerous now.

To misquote Meatloaf, 0 out of 2 ain't bad ;)

That's why it's a semi serious game. You seem like you'd understand why you shouldn't take it personally and quit if you got shot in the head for juggling grenades outside a settlement. ;)

If I seem to remember back in the day they would shoot you even if you had a camera.

There was lot of protests back in the day and lots of tabloid horror stories
A lot of that was Misinformation regarding Ebola in the late 70s, PD is our main centre of research for protecting the armed forces from CBN, it was also responsible for the analysis of the Salisbury poisonings.
like any MOD property, in the current climate, don't expect to be treated kindly if your not supposed to be there :ROFLMAO:

That was the Soviets, the guy on the receiving end was taking pics of the engine compartments of either T64 or T80s.
