Sorry I'm late to the party... I couldn't wait to get the CV1 when it was first released even though my rig was below spec. I was quite prepared to buy a new one if it couldn't handle it. Anyway, I'm still using my original setup -- Win 8, CPU: i7-920, Ram: 12gig, GPU: gtx970. I did buy the 4-port inateck USB 3 card from the very start.
The only issue I had was the HMD randomly blacking out while (only) playing ED -- So much fun while trying to dock!! This was solved by ditching the inateck drivers in favour of the default windows drivers. Since then I've had zero issues with it.
Sickness is almost certainly framerate. I don't go driving in the SRV much and can start to feel ill if I drive around for hours. Never had any issues while flying though
My CPU is slightly better than yours but your ram and GPU are much better than mine - I'd be suprised if you couldn't play other games perfectly fine.
It's still in the back of my mind to upgrade but I really don't see the need at the moment.
edit: Oh, I have touch and use 2 sensors when playing ED. I'm even considering getting a 3rd (but not for ED).
